15We report here on an extremely rare case of duplicated extrahepatic bile ducts that was associated with choledocholithiasis, and this malady was visualized by employing the minimum intensity projection images with using multi-detector row CT. The presence of duplicated extrahepatic bile ducts with a proximal communication, and the ducts were joined distally and they subsequently formed a single common bile duct, has not been previously reported.
OBJECTIVES: Our objectives were to determine the clinical significance of transient arterial enhancement (TAE) of the hepatic parenchyma in patients with suspected biliary disease and to investigate the relationship between the pattern and extent of TAE and acute cholangitis. METHODS: A retrospective review of dynamic computed tomographic scans in 76 patients with suspected biliary disease was performed. Patterns of TAE were classified as polymorphous, sectorial, peribiliary, diffuse, and a comb
MSS, a comprising mixture of maesil (Prunus mume Sieb. et Zucc) concentrate, disodium succinate and Span80 (3.6:4.6 :1 ratio) showed a significant improvement of memory when daily administered (460 mg/kg day, p.o.) into the normal rats for 3 weeks. During the spatial learning of 4 days in Morris water maze test, both working memory and short-term working memory index were significantly increased when compared to untreated controls. We investigated a molecular signal transduction mechanism of MSS
A broad spectrum of colonic complications can occur in patients with colon cancer. Clinically, some of these complications can obscure the presence of underlying malignancies in the colon and these complications may require emergency surgical management. The complications of the colon that can be associated with colon cancer include obstruction, perforation, abscess formation, acute appendicitis, ischemic colitis and intussusception. Although the majority of these complications only rarely occur

The accuracy and sensitivity of CT for the diagnosis of acute cholecystitis improved significantly when cystic duct enhancement was used as an alternative to impacted gallstones as a diagnostic criterion.
OBJECTIVES: Our objective was to describe the transient hepatic attenuation differences (THADs) on dynamic computed tomography in patients with viral hepatitis who had no evidence of cirrhosis. METHODS: After excluding patients who had known causative factors for the development of THAD, a retrospective review of dynamic CT scans in 67 patients with viral hepatitis was performed to determine whether THAD was present. The patients were assigned to 3 groups according to the magnitude of alanine am
The degree of perihepatitis seems to show a relationship with the severity of PID on MDCT. Omental/mesenteric fat infiltration and salpingitis can be strongly related with perihepatitis in PID.
The duplication of the portal vein is an uncommon congenital anomaly. To date, only four cases have been reported in the medical literature. This anomaly can cause portal hypertension in pediatric patients. In addition, duplication of the portal vein has various patterns of connection with a splenic vein or mesenteric veins, and it can lie anterior or posterior to the duodenum. We report the MDCT findings of an adult patient with duplication of the portal vein that was found incidentally.
A variety of abdominal and pelvic tumors can present with rupture leading to hemoperitoneum/hemoretroperitoneum or peritonitis. Imaging plays an important role in the diagnosis of hemorrhage or peritonitis as well as in the detection of ruptured tumors or organs. In this article, we illustrate the imaging findings of ruptured tumors arising in the abdominal and pelvic organs while excluding those of ruptured tumors arising in the stomach and intestines. It is important for the radiologists to un
