15For a positive integer, n, new families, S and U, of binary sequences of period 2/sup n/-1 with low correlations are proposed, where for some positive integer, e, S is defined for odd n/e and U for even n/e. The family S has four-valued correlations and is a generalization of the family of Gold-like sequences introduced by S. Boztas and P.V. Kumar (see ibid., vol.40, p.532-7, 1994). The family U, which is also a generalization of the sequence family defined by P. Udaya ("Polyphase and frequency
Polar codes are the first family of error correcting codes that provably achieve the capacity of symmetric binary-input discrete memoryless channels with low complexity. Since the development of polar codes, there have been many studies to improve their finite-length performance. As a result, polar codes are now adopted as a channel code for the control channel of 5G new radio of the 3rd generation partnership project. However, the decoder implementation is one of the big practical problems and
In this paper, the performance of generic orthogonal space-time block codes (OSTBCs) introduced by Alamouti [2], Tarokh [3], and Su and Xia [11] is analyzed. We first define one-dimensional component symbol error function (ODSEF) from the exact expression of the pairwise error probability of an OSTBC. Utilizing the ODSEF and the bit error probability (BEP) expression for quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) introduced by Cho and Yoon [9], the exact closed-form expressions for the BEP of linear
In this paper, for homogeneous and nonhomogeneous linear orthogonal space-time codes with square QAMs, the exact expressions of the bit error probability in slow Rayleigh fading channel are derived.
Shear connectors are used in steel beam–concrete slabs of composite frame and bridge structures to transfer shear force according to design loads. The existing Y-type perfobond rib shear connectors are designed for girder slabs of composite bridges. Therefore, the rib and transverse rebars of the conventional Y-type perfobond rib shear connectors are extremely large for the composite frames of building structures. We performed push-out tests of stubby Y-type perfobond rib shear connect
In this paper, a new non-orthogonal multiple-access scheme, trellis tone modulation multiple-access (TTMMA), is proposed for peer discovery of distributed device-to-device (D2D) communication. The range and capacity of discovery are important performance metrics in peer discovery. The proposed trellis tone modulation uses single-tone transmission and achieves a long discovery range due to its low Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR). The TTMMA also exploits non-orthogonal resource assignment to in
Abstract In this paper, the energy harvesting in a decode‐and‐forward (DF) relaying system with beamforming and hardware impairments that is based on a realistic nonlinear model is studied under κ − μ shadowed fading environments. This study was undertaken in consideration of a source and a destination that are equipped with multiple antennas and communication that occurs through a single‐antenna energy‐constrained DF relay. At the relay node, a nonlinear energy harvester is assumed, which limit
In this study, the performance of a dual‐hop amplify‐and‐forward relaying system with beamforming is analysed, where only the source and destination are equipped with multiple antennas and both hops are subject to κ – μ fading channels. The κ – μ fading model is a general fading model that can accurately model practical small scale fading in line‐of‐sight environments and accommodates Rician, Nakagami‐ m , and Rayleigh as special cases. New exact analytical expressions on the outage probability
Neural network decoders (NNDs) for rate-compatible polar codes are studied in this paper. We consider a family of rate-compatible polar codes which are constructed from a single polar coding sequence as defined by 5G new radios. We propose a transfer learning technique for training multiple NNDs of the rate-compatible polar codes utilizing their inclusion property. The trained NND for a low rate code is taken as the initial state of NND training for the next smallest rate code. The proposed meth
In Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) systems, timing synchronization in uplink is accomplished by an initial uplink synchronization called an initial ranging process. The Base Station's receiver synchronizes the symbol timing to specific user's symbol and the other user's symbols have some Symbol Timing Offset (STO). Linear phase shift is occurred by each user's STO in an OFDMA symbol. The Multiple Access Interference (MAI) caused by the summation of each user's linear phase
