15Mesenchymal stem cell therapy is a novel regenerative approach for treating tendinopathy. Here, we evaluated the safety and efficacy of allogeneic adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (allo-ASC) in treating lateral epicondylosis (LE). Under ultrasound guidance, allo-ASCs mixed with fibrin glue were injected into the hypoechoic common extensor tendon lesions of 12 participants with chronic LE; 6 subjects each were administered 10(6) or 10(7) cells in 1 ml. Safety was evaluated at day 3 and week
The destructive economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic was distributed unequally across the population. Gender, race and ethnicity, age, education level, and a worker's industry and occupation all mattered. We analyze the initial negative effect and the lingering effect through the recovery phase across demographic and socio-economic groups. The initial negative impact on employment was larger for women, minorities, the less educated, and the young, even after accounting for the industries and
BACKGROUND: Although survival of transplanted stem cells in vivo and differentiation of stem cells into tenocytes in vitro have been reported, there have been no in vivo studies demonstrating that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) could secrete their own proteins as differentiated tenogenic cells. Purpose/Hypothesis: Using a xenogeneic MSC transplantation model, we aimed to investigate whether MSCs could differentiate into the tenogenic lineage and secrete their own proteins. The hypothesis was that
OBJECTIVES: It has been reported that low skeletal muscle mass correlates with knee osteoarthritis in obese individuals. This study aimed to investigate whether lower limb skeletal muscle mass is independently associated with knee osteoarthritis in the general population. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This cross-sectional study used public data from the Fourth and Fifth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Subjects included 4924 community-dwelling adults aged ≥50 years (821 subjects
BACKGROUND: Tightening and contracture of the joint capsule are hallmarks of adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder (ACS). However, quantification of capsular stiffness and its relation to clinical features have not been investigated thoroughly. OBJECTIVES: To quantify capsular stiffness during intra-articular hydraulic distension (IHD) and to investigate its relationships with pain severity, symptom duration, range of motion (ROM), gender, and diabetes status. DESIGN: Case series. SETTING: Univers
OBJECTIVE: This prospective, post-marketing study collected sunitinib safety and efficacy data in Japanese patients with unresectable/metastatic renal cell carcinoma. Retrospective analysis investigated adverse events as potential sunitinib efficacy biomarkers. METHODS: Patients administered sunitinib, after its release, were registered until reaching a pre-specified number of cases. Primary starting dose was 50 mg/day orally on a 4-weeks-on and 2-weeks-off schedule. Physicians completed investi
BACKGROUND: Although several trials have reported the use of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) for mild to moderate carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), little is known about the efficacy of ESWT. Thus, we performed a meta-analysis to evaluate whether ESWT can improve symptoms, functional outcomes, and electrophysiologic parameters in CTS. METHODS: Six randomized controlled trials investigating the effect of ESWT on CTS were retrieved from PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library. We performed a
BACKGROUND: Although balance impairment after hip fracture surgery (HFS) can constitute a long-term problem of limiting mobility and increasing the risk of falls in older adults, little is known about the effect of balance training (BT) on physical functioning after HFS. Thus, we performed a meta-analysis to evaluate whether BT improved the overall physical functioning of patients after HFS. METHODS: We searched the PubMed-Medline, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases in January 2018 and inclu
