15AVR using RD valve was associated with better valve hemodynamics in terms of the MPG than AVR using SU valve, and better outcomes were observed in the RD group regarding PPI. Procedural times were longer in AVR using RD valve than SU valve. Early clinical outcomes showed no difference between RD and SU valve.
OBJECTIVES: The early and long-term clinical outcomes of bovine versus porcine tricuspid valve replacement (TVR) were compared based on the nationwide database from the National Health Insurance Service. METHODS: Of 1464 patients who underwent TVR from 2002 to 2018 in Korea, 541 were enrolled after excluding mechanical TVR, re-TVR, complex congenital heart disease, Ebstein anomaly and age <19 years at operation. Bovine (group B) and porcine valves (group P) were used in 342 and 199 patients, res
BACKGROUND: Non-vitamin K direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) is effective for prevention of embolic events in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (AF) patients. However, the effectiveness and safety of DOAC in AF patients who have bioprosthetic heart valve (BPHV) is largely unknown. METHODS: We retrospectively identified patients with AF and BPHV, using the diagnostic code and medical device and surgery information from the Korean National Health Insurance Service database, between 2013 and 2018. A 1:
BACKGROUND: We evaluated the mid-term outcomes and angiographic patency of redo coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). METHODS: Of 2,851 patients who underwent isolated CABG at Seoul National University Hospital from 2000 to 2017, 88 underwent redo CABG. Patients' mean age at redo CABG was 66.0±8.0 years. The mean interval between the first-time and redo CABG was 113.0±62.4 months. The mean follow-up duration was 86 months. Early and mid-term clinical outcomes were evaluated. Angiographic paten
OBJECTIVES: This retrospective study was conducted to evaluate the impact of saphenous vein (SV) harvesting with versus without perivascular tissue on the 5-year angiographic patency in coronary artery bypass grafting. METHODS: Among the 944 patients who received coronary artery bypass grafting between 2010 and 2015, 579 patients who received off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting using 1 SV as a Y-composite graft based on the in situ left internal thoracic artery were enrolled. SV harvesting

Methods: Of 2,851 patients who underwent isolated CABG at Seoul National University Hospital from 2000 to 2017, 88 underwent redo CABG. Patients' mean age at redo CABG was 66.08.0 years. The mean interval between the first-time and redo CABG was 113.062.4 months. The mean follow-up duration was 86 months. Early and mid-term clinical outcomes were evaluated. Angiographic patency rates were
Abstract Background This study was conducted to evaluate whether myocardial viability assessed with cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) affected long-term clinical outcomes after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICMP). Methods Preoperative CMR with late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) was performed in 103 patients (64.9 ± 10.1 years, male:female = 82:21) with 3-vessel disease and left ventricular dysfunction (ejection fraction ≤ 0.35). Transmural extent
Clinical outcomes of the third or more operations for valvular heart disease were acceptable in terms of intraoperative adverse events and in-hospital mortality rates. There were no differences in the incidence of intraoperative adverse events, early mortality and postoperative complications between third cardiac operation and fourth or more.
Targeted metabolomics demonstrated various degrees of changes in the release of metabolites by the hypothermic brain. The release of most metabolites was decreased in hypothermia, whereas glutamic acid showed a distinct brain metabolism.
