SJR Q1British Journal of Urology

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the roles of glutathione and glutathione-S-transferase (GST) in cisplatin-resistance mechanisms in human bladder cancer, by using glutathione-depleting or GST-blocking agents. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Cisplatin-resistant human bladder cancer cell lines were established by continuous exposure of T24 cells to increasing concentrations of cisplatin. Buthionine sulphoximine (BSO), ethacrynic acid and indomethacin were used to deplete glutathione or block GST. Intracellular g

SJR Q2International braz j urolOA

The personalized 3D renal model was revealed to significantly enhance the understanding of correct renal anatomy in patients with renal tumors in both urologist and student groups. These models can be useful for establishing the perioperative planning and also education program for medical students.

SJR Q1PLoS ONEOA

The laparoscopic and robotic approaches yielded better perioperative outcomes, such as less intraoperative bleeding, shorter hospital stays, less analgesic usage, and non-inferior oncological outcomes, compared with the open approach. Further prospective studies are needed to compare these surgical techniques.

Study Type – Therapy (case series) Level of Evidence 4 What’s known on the subject? and What does the study add? While laparoscopic radical nephrectomy (LRN) has been confirmed in various studies to be at least as efficacious as open radical nephrectomy (ORN) in terms of oncological control and more advantageous from the perspective of minimal invasiveness, very few studies have examined its feasibility and efficacy when applied to renal masses exceeding 7 cm in size, and even fewer involved res

Survival analyses for malignancies, including renal cell carcinoma (RCC), have primarily been conducted using the Cox proportional hazards (CPH) model. We compared the random survival forest (RSF) and DeepSurv models with the CPH model to predict recurrence-free survival (RFS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) in non-metastatic clear cell RCC (nm-cRCC) patients. Our cohort included 2139 nm-cRCC patients who underwent curative-intent surgery at six Korean institutions between 2000 and 2014. The

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate serial changes in renal function by investigating various clinical factors after radical nephrectomy (RN). PATIENTS AND METHODS: The study population consisted of 2068 consecutive patients who were treated at multiple institutions by RN for renal cortical tumour without metastasis between 1999 and 2011. We measured the serial change in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and clinical factors during a 60-month follow-up period. The changes in eGFR over time were ana

SJR Q2Yonsei Medical JournalOA

This study consists of an analysis of the results of simple retrograde balloon dilation in the treatment of ureteral strictures for the evaluation of the long-term efficacy of this procedure, and the factors affecting its success rate. A prospective study was performed on 43 ureteral strictures (22 malignant, 21 benign) from 37 patients treated with retrograde balloon dilation from October 1997 to May 1999. After the stricture segments were dilated, ureteral stents were indwelled uniformly for 3

PURPOSE: To assess the risk factors of positive surgical margins (PSM) and the influence of margin status on recurrence in pT1 clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC) following partial nephrectomy (PN). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Patients (1,831) with pathologically confirmed stage T1 clear cell RCC were retrospectively analyzed following PN at eight institutions in Korea between 1999 and 2011. Demographics, operative data, pathological margin status, and site of recurrence were analyzed. RESULTS: Res
