15In this paper, we present a virtual reality based content/system called the "Drop the beat" designed to help the mindfulness and train one to overcome panic disorder. The two main elements of the proposed system are the (1) use of 360-degree video for presenting the panic inducing situation and, (2) facilitation of the mindfulness through a compelling scenario and immersive experience with multimodal feedback. In particular, we hypothesized that the direct observance and tangibly feeling for the
Denosumab has been suggested as a first-line therapy for osteoporotic patients. However, a standardized protocol for the prevention of denosumab induced medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) has not yet been established. The purpose of this study was to report denosumab induced MRONJ cases, and investigate the factors affecting the occurrence of MRONJ in patients who underwent denosumab and invasive dental treatment (especially tooth extraction) between October 2016 and March 2020.
ABSTRACT: Nerve injury especially inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) is the one of the complications that occur when the mandibular third molar (M3) is extracted and in case of high risk patients, coronectomy might be an alternative to tooth extraction. The purpose of this retrospective study was to analyze root migration and its influencing factors at 6 months after coronectomy in both 2- and 3-dimensions using periapical view and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). We analyzed 33 cases of root re
The incidence rate of accidental foreign body aspiration and ingestion differed according to patient sex, age, and dental department. Dental practitioners must identify high-risk patients and apply various methods to prevent accidental foreign body aspiration and ingestion in dental clinics. Inexperienced practitioners should be particularly careful.
BACKGROUND: Forced eruption of an impacted tooth usually requires surgical and orthodontic interventions to successfully bring the tooth into the dental arch. The clinical time required for a forced eruption is difficult to predict before treatment begins and success rates are affected by several factors before and after an eruption. This study was conducted to identify factors that affect the success of forced eruption, the duration of orthodontic treatment of impacted teeth, and the reasons fo
Despite postoperative occlusal changes, positional changes in the mandibular proximal segment and the position of the condyles were similar between CS and SF, which suggested that SF using IVRO achieved satisfactory postoperative stability. If active physiotherapy is conducted, the proximal segment can be adapted in the physiological position regardless of the occlusal changes.
BACKGROUND: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of systemically administered anti-sclerostin antibodies (Anti-Scl Ab) on orthodontic tooth movements (OTM) in an ovariectomized rat. METHODS: Twenty-four 12-week-old female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into two groups: (1) ovariectomy (OVX) group, (2) ovariectomy + romosozumab (ROMO) group. OTM was performed 8 weeks after OVX. The ROMO group received subcutaneous injections of romosozumab twice a week, starting two weeks after OVX.
As digital dentistry has become widespread and increasingly popular in clinical practice, various attempts have been made to use digital technologies for dental treatment. Implant surgical guides that use these digital technologies have been widely used in recent implant surgeries. The seating and stability of implant surgical guides are essential to accurately transfer the planned surgery into the oral cavity. This case study aimed to explore the two-step surgical guide system to increase the s
As the social interest in medical care has increased and the awareness and autonomy of patients have increased, the importance of communication skills with patients has been increasingly emphasized in providing high quality medical services. In medical education, such education has become an important area in medical school and lifelong medical education, with studies showing that communication skills can be improved through education and training, and that this learned communication skills can
