이 연구는 모더니즘과 포스트모더니즘 사이에서 발생한 변화에 주목한다. 팝아트와 로버트 벤추리 건축은 모두 이러한 시대적 변화에 관심을 가졌으며, 대중과의 소통을 위해 유사한 방법을 사용하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 벤추리의 작업과 미국 팝아트를 심리학적 관점에서 분석함으로써 도출되었다. 팝아트와 벤추리의 건축이 사용한 방법은 첫째, 일상성 ; 일상적인 사물을 새로운 환경에 도입하는 방법, 둘째, 소비 ; 소비재를 변화시키는 것(크기, 형태 등)이다. 그들은 시각적 부조화를 이용하여 대중들의 주목성을 높였다. 팝아트와 벤추리의 작업이 후기 산업 사회에 따른 사회적 변화에 주목하고 있기 때문에 이 연구는 로버트 벤추리 작업과 미국 팝아트의 유사성을 이해하고, 나아가 1960년대의 사회 변화를 이해하는데도 도움을 줄 것이다.
