In vivo bioluminescent monitoring for therapeutic intervention by HSV1-tk/GCV system using hTERT RNA targeting trans-splicing ribozyme
SJ Jang, Kang Jh, TS Lee, Ki Hyun Kim, Seong‐Wook Lee, CJ Ryu, Karla Lee, CW Choi, SM Lim

1022 Objectives HSV1-tk/GCV system using adenovirus mediated hTERT RNA targeting trans-splicing ribozyme suggested as a useful strategy for tumor targeted gene therapy. This study aims to visualize the therapeutic effect of this treatment system in vitro and in vivo. Methods Adenoviral vector(Ad-CRT) containing the hTERT targeting trans-splicing ribozyme with the downstream HSV1-tk gene driven by the CMV promoter was infected to firefly luciferase expressing human colorectal adenocarcinoma cells

SJR Q1Cancer Research

Abstract Background:According to prior studies, the role of serum vitamin D3 has been inconsistentand clinical implications of 25-hyrdoxyvitamin D (25-OHD) have been little studiedin breast cancer patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT). Objectives: The aims of study were to investigate changes in 25-OHD levels before and after NCT and to determine the association of 25-OHD and oncologic outcomes including pathological complete response (pCR) in breast cancer patients. 1021 Objectives This study aims to develop reporter gene targeting method for AFP-producing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) specific imaging and therapy using adenovirus vector containing reporter gene driven by AFP enhancer/promoter. Methods The recombinant adenovirus vectors, AdAFPfLuc and AdAFPhNIS (containing firefly luciferase gene and human sodium/iodide symporter gene, respectively, driven by human AFP enhancer/promoter) were prepared. After an in vitro infection by adenovirus, the express

A case report: Iron overload in transfusion dependent thalassaemia with cardiomyopathy and arrhythmias
Cck Liam Liam, Yang Liang Boo, SM Lim, SG Toh
Asian Journal of Medicine and BiomedicineOA

Cardiac dysfunction is a common complication and a leading cause of mortality in patients with thalassaemia. Iron overload affects heart function by directly damaging tissue through iron deposition or iron-mediated inflammatory effects and endocrinopathies. Case report: Our patient is a 24-year-old man with beta thalassaemia major, on stable transfusion requirements with pre-transfusion hemoglobin (Hb) of 8-10g/dL. His ferritin increased to 8021μg/L due to non-compliance to iron chelators. He st

SJR Q1Cancer Research

Abstract Background: Extreme responders to anticancer therapy are rarely encountered in the treatment of advanced breast cancer patients, but their treatment response have not been investigated on the whole exome level. We performed whole exome analysis to characterize genomic landscape of extreme responders in metastatic breast cancer patients. Methods: Clinical samples were obtained from patients who showed exceptional response to anti-HER2 therapy or hormonal therapy. Non-responders were sele

Comparison between direct and indirect labeling methods for monitoring cell trafficking
J.Y. Park, TS Lee, J K Son, Kang Jh, Ki‐Hyun Kim, Chul Won Choi, SM Lim

We identify screening strategies for cervical cancer that provide greater aggregate health benefit than existing options, offer excellent cost-effectiveness, and have the biggest positive impact in worst-off groups. The typology proposed here may also be useful in research and policy decisions when trade-offs between fairness and cost-effectiveness are unavoidable.
