15Although coffee is one of the most consumed caffeinated beverages worldwide, the role of coffee consumption in migraine is controversial. This study examined the relationship between coffee consumption and clinical characteristics in participants with migraine compared to those with non-migraine headache. This cross-sectional study used data from a nationwide survey on headache and sleep. Coffee consumption was classified as no-to-low (< 1 cup/day), moderate (1-2 cups/day), or high (≥ 3 cups/day
Recently, the most bothersome symptom has been recommended as a co-primary endpoint in clinical trials on the acute treatment of migraine. Probable migraine is a subtype of migraine that fulfills all but one criterion for migraine diagnosis. We aimed to compare the most bothersome symptom between probable migraine and migraine. This study analyzed data from a nationwide study conducted in Korea, and the most bothersome symptom was assessed by requesting the participants to select one of the four
Abstract Objective This study was undertaken to investigate the regional burden of enlarged perivascular spaces (EPVSs) in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy with hippocampal sclerosis (TLE‐HS) and explore its prognostic relevance. Methods In this retrospective observational study, EPVSs in the temporal lobe (T‐EPVS), centrum semiovale (CS‐EPVS), basal ganglia (BG‐EPVS), midbrain, and hippocampus were visually rated in 68 treatment‐naïve patients with TLE‐HS. Regional EPVS burden was dichotomi
OBJECTIVE: Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) is typically characterized by drug-resistant epilepsy and subsequent cognitive deterioration. Surgery is a rare but viable option for the control of seizures in a subset of patients with LGS. This study aimed to describe the organization of the epileptogenic zone network (EZN) in patients with LGS using stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) and to report the outcome of post-SEEG treatment. METHODS: A quantitative SEEG signal analysis was conducted in 14 con
Our findings suggest that oral dysbiosis may be involved in the development of migraine and highlight specific oral microbes as potential diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for migraine.
Background: Delirium affects up to 50% of patients following high-risk surgeries and is associated with poor long-term prognosis. This study employed machine learning to predict delirium using polysomnography (PSG) and sleep-disorder questionnaire data, and aimed to identify key sleep-related factors for improved interventions and patient outcomes. Methods: We studied 912 adults who underwent surgery under general anesthesia at a tertiary hospital (2013–2024) and had PSG within 5 years of surger
Objective: This study aimed to analyze the prevalence and risk factors of neuromuscular complications after lung transplantation (LT), as well as the association between neuromuscular complications and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support. Methods: We retrospectively included 201 patients who underwent LT between 2013 and 2020. Patients were classified into three groups based on the presence and the pattern of postoperative leg weakness: no weakness group, asymmetric weakness group
BACKGROUND: The epidural blood patch (EBP) is the treatment of choice for spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH). Studies have shown that targeted EBP is more effective than blind EBP. Additionally, a greater volume of injected blood during EBP has been associated with better therapeutic outcomes. However, symptoms such as back pain often prevent achieving the desired blood volume. This study aimed to analyse factors influencing the tolerable EBP volume, including structural, clinical, and p
Non-migraine headache with VA patients had more severe symptoms than those without VA. These findings may improve the understanding of VA and the management of individuals with non-migraine headache.
Background: Juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME) is a common adolescent epilepsy characterized by myoclonic, generalized tonic–clonic, and sometimes absence seizures. Prognosis varies, with many patients experiencing relapse despite pharmacological treatment. Recent advances in imaging and artificial intelligence suggest that combining microstructural brain changes with traditional clinical variables can enhance potential prognostic biomarkers identification. Methods: A retrospective study was cond
