연구실 소개

윤석진 교수의 연구실은 천체물리학과 응용 천문학 분야에서 활동하며, 주로 태양계 외의 별집단과 은하의 형성·진화를 중심으로 연구합니다. 특히 구형별집단의 색깔 분포와 금속성 분포의 비선형적 변환 메커니즘을 규명함으로써 은하 형성 이론을 단순화하고 통합하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 또한 별집단 내에서의 블랙홀 이원성과 환경적 상호작용, 산업생태계와의 유사성 등 다학제적 접근을 통해 천체계의 복잡한 동역학을 해석하고자 합니다.

Explaining the Color Distributions of Globular Cluster Systems in Elliptical Galaxies

The colors of globular clusters in most large elliptical galaxies are bimodal. This is generally taken as evidence for the presence of two cluster subpopulations that have different geneses. Abstract We study a low-mass spiral galaxy NGC 2750 (∼5 times less massive than the Milky Way), located ∼40 Mpc away in a sparse region that hosts seven satellite galaxies within a projected distance of 150 Kpc.
