15To investigate the clinical relevance of CSF myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein-immunoglobulin G (MOG-IgG) testing in a large multicenter cohort.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease. However, no reliable biomarkers have been identified to represent the clinical status. This study aimed to investigate whether diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) findings are useful imaging biomarkers to indicate the clinical status of ALS patients. Ninety-six probable or definite ALS cases and 47 age- and sex-matched, normal controls were enrolled. Demographic and clinical data were collected at the time of DTI. DTI data were acqui
The pathogenesis of fibromyalgia (FM) has not been clearly elucidated, but central sensitization, which plays an important role in the development of neuropathic pain, is considered to be the main mechanism. The cutaneous silent period (CSP), which is a spinal reflex mediated by A-delta cutaneous afferents, is useful for the evaluation of sensorimotor integration at the spinal and supraspinal levels. To understand the pathophysiology of FM, we compared CSP patterns between patients with FM and n
Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of repeated low-dose rituximab treatment guided by monitoring circulating CD19+ B cells in patients with refractory myasthenia gravis (MG). Methods: Patients with refractory MG who had received rituximab treatment at two teaching hospitals between September 2013 and January 2017 were reviewed retrospectively. The treatment protocol consisted of an induction treatment with low-dose rituximab (375 mg/m 2 twice with a 2
Objective This study aimed to investigate the utility of facial nerve ultrasonography in the functional and structural assessment of early‐stage Bell’s palsy and the prognostic value of facial nerve ultrasonography in Bell’s palsy. Study Design Prospective longitudinal study. Setting Single center, a university‐affiliated neurology clinic. Subjects and Methods Patients with unilateral Bell’s palsy who had visited our clinic within 3 days of symptom onset were enrolled in this study. Demographic
This case provides additional evidence that damage to the flocculus or its connections may impair the vestibulo-ocular reflex only during high-speed stimuli, especially when the stimuli are applied to the contralesional side. By observing accompanying cerebellar signs, the abnormal HIT findings caused by a cerebellar disorder can be distinguished from those produced by peripheral vestibular disorders.
The measurement of skeletal muscle mass is essential for the diagnosis of sarcopenia. Muscle ultrasonography has emerged as a useful tool for evaluating sarcopenia because it can be used to assess muscle quality and quantity. This study investigated whether muscle ultrasonography is effective for estimating appendicular skeletal muscle mass (ASM) and screening for sarcopenia. This study prospectively enrolled 212 healthy volunteers aged 40-80 years. ASM was measured using the bioelectrical imped

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the correlations between electrodiagnostic (EDX) features in patients with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) and to investigate whether EDX data-driven clustering can identify a distinct subgroup regarding clinical phenotype and treatment response. METHODS: We reviewed clinical and EDX data of 56 patients with definite CIDP fulfilling the 2010 European Federation of Neurological Societies and Peripheral Nerve Society criteria at two t
Background: The glymphatic system plays a critical role in clearing interstitial waste from the brain. Dysfunction of this system has been linked to various neurodegenerative diseases, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The diffusion tensor imaging-along the perivascular space (DTI-ALPS) index has emerged as a potential neuroimaging biomarker for evaluating glymphatic function. This study investigates whether glymphatic function differs in individuals with ALS compared to those with
Idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) is a rare autoimmune disease of significant clinical importance owing to its treatability.Myositis-specific antibodies (MSAs) and myositisassociated antibodies (MAAs) have recently received increased attention in the diagnosis and classification of IIM. 1 The discovery of anti-SRP (signal recognition particle) and anti-HMGCR (3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coA reductase) antibodies has led to the inclusion of immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy (IMNM) as a dis
