15We have developed an in vitro assay which measures the ability of growth cones to extend on an axonal substrate. Neurite lengths were compared in the presence or absence of monovalent antibodies against specific neural cell surface glycoproteins. Fab fragments of antibodies against the neural cell adhesion molecule, NCAM, have an insignificant effect on the lengths of neurites elongating on either an axonal substrate or a laminin substrate. Fab fragments of polyclonal antibodies against two new
Purpose: This study systematically reviewed research on behavioral interventions based on the information-motivation-behavioral skills (IMB) model to investigate specific intervention strategies that focus on information, motivation, and behavioral skills and to evaluate their effectiveness for people with chronic diseases. Methods: A systematic review was conducted in accordance with the guidelines of both the National Evidence-based Healthcare Collaborating Agency and Im and Chang. A literatur
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to cross-culturally adapt the eHealth Literacy Scale into Korean (KeHEALS) and evaluate its reliability and validity. Methods: The cross-cultural adaptation of the KeHEALS was conducted according to the World Health Organization's guideline. To evaluate the reliability and validity, the data of 397 participants (210 young adults and 187 older adults) were collected from 2017 November to 2018 February. An online survey was conducted with young adult
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine if simulation training affects new graduate critical care nurses'knowledge, self-efficacy, and performance ability in emergency situations. Methods: Forty new graduate critical care nurses were randomly assigned to either an experimental or a control group. The experimental group had didactic with simulation. The control group received only didactic without simulation about emergency situations. The data were collected before and after the traini
BACKGROUND: Animal-assisted therapy (AAT) can ameliorate diverse health problems in older adults. However, applications of AAT have been limited because of the lack of intervention guidelines for older adults. AIMS: This study aimed to explore applications of AAT to older adults, analyze its health effects, and provide evidence for future interventions. METHODS: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses ch
AIMS: To investigate chronotype categories and social jetlag among nursing students and to identify associations between rhythm asynchrony and participants' physical and psychological health, academic performance and quality of life. BACKGROUND: Social jetlag refers to the asynchrony between chronotypes and social working hours, resulting in a misalignment of biological and social time. Recent studies have reported possible changes in psychosocial functioning owing to social jetlag. Therefore, t
AIMS: This study aimed to compare the psychometric properties of two measures of eHealth literacy, namely, the Korean versions of the Digital Health Literacy Instrument (K-DHLI) and eHealth Literacy Scale (K-eHEALS), among older adults in South Korea. BACKGROUND: Given the usefulness of eHealth information, measures of eHealth literacy have been developed. It is necessary to examine the validity of such tools among older adults who are likely to experience difficulties in using eHealth resources
The chick G4 molecule is a cell surface glycoprotein which is a member of the L1/NILE/NgCAM/8D9 group of neural cell adhesion molecules. Polyclonal antisera against G4 have been shown to decrease sympathetic neurite outgrowth on sympathetic axons and to de-bundle retinal axons growing on a tectal membrane substrate. We have extended the specificity of these results by showing that a panel of monoclonal antibodies against G4 is also effective in reducing sympathetic neurite outgrowth on sympathet
Purpose: This research was carried out to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities Questionnaire (SDSCA) for Korean older adults with type 2 diabetes. Methods: Translation and back-translation were performed to develop the Korean version of the SDSCA. Then the Korean version SDSCA was applied to a sample of 112 older adults who had participated in diabetes self management education in Seoul. The internal consistency and the test-
BACKGROUND: Irritable bowel syndrome is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder that negatively affects all aspects of life. With the widespread use of the internet, internet-delivered cognitive behavioral therapy has been developed and applied to control symptoms and improve the quality of life of those with irritable bowel syndrome. However, few studies have systematically reviewed the effectiveness of internet-delivered cognitive behavioral therapy on irritable bowel syndrome. OBJECTIVE
Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of meditation programs on stress responses, anxiety and self-esteem in psychiatric patients. After the meditation treatment, the experimental group will report a higher degree of decreased Symptoms of Stress(SOS) scores than the control group. The experimental group will report a higher degree of decreased Beck Anxiety Inventory(BAI) scores than the control group. In addition, the experimental group will report a higher degree of increased Rosenbe
