박성환 교수의 연구실은 자가면역질환, 특히 류마티스성 관절염과 시스템성 레우마티스성 질환의 발병 기전과 치료 전략을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 면역조절 메커니즘, 염증 반응 조절, 그리고 천연물질의 면역조절 효과를 기반으로 한 신약 개발과 치료 전략 개선에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 특히 레드긴센 추출물, CoQ10, MICA 유전자 다형성 등 다양한 생물학적 타겟을 탐색하고 있습니다. 또한, 자가면역 반응의 세포 및 분자 수준에서의 기전을 규명하고, 이를 바탕으로 보다 안전하고 효과적인 치료법을 모색하고 있습니다.

CII-reactive T cells are more abundant in SFMC than in PBMC and are strongly associated with a shift toward Thl cytokine in the inflamed joints of RA patients.
