홍성주 교수의 연구실은 현대 극문학과 허구적 서사의 형성 원리에 초점을 맞추며, 특히 전통적 서사 구조와 정체성 형성의 비틀림을 다룹니다. 스틸, 실코와 같은 작가들의 실험적 서사 기법을 통해 언어, 시간, 정체성의 경계를 탐구하며, 비표준적 서사 방식이 어떻게 권위적 서사에 도전하는지를 분석합니다. 연구는 주로 문학적 형식의 변화와 그 안에서 드러나는 권력, 기억, 소속감의 문제를 중심으로 전개됩니다.
