12The aim of this work is the development of a solar photovoltaic generation system based on a standard power electronics cell for microgrid applications. The proposed system is capable of providing security of supply by delivering uninterrupted power to critical loads in standalone operation and transitioning seamlessly between stand alone and grid connected mode. To mitigate the effect of variability of the generation and load demand a state of the art 20kWh lithium-ion battery is used to balanc
Few studies have been conducted among Asian children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) using do-it-yourself artificial pancreas system (DIY-APS). We evaluated real-world data of pediatric T1DM patients using DIY-APS. Data were obtained for 10 patients using a DIY-APS with algorithms. We collected sensor glucose and insulin delivery data from each participant for a period of 4 weeks. Average glycosylated hemoglobin was 6.2%±0.3%. The mean percentage of time that glucose level r
Background: There was limited evidence to evaluate the association between lifestyle habits and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) metrics. Thus, we aimed to depict the behavioral and metabolic determinants of CGM metrics in insulin-treated patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods: This is a prospective observational study. We analyzed data from 122 insulin-treated patients with T2DM. Participants wore Dexcom G6 and Fitbit, and diet information was identified for 10 days. Multivari
The synthesis of ZnO nanowalls using Ni as the catalyst has been studied. ZnO nanowalls were prepared using a (110) α-sapphire substrate coated with a Ni film. ZnO nanowalls were grown using a mixture of ZnO and graphite powders as a source at 950 °C and 15 Torr in a tube furnace. Heating led to the formation of Ni networks. The networks provided nucleation sites for the nucleation and growth of ZnO nanowalls. During the growth phase of the ZnO nanowalls, diffusion of Ni and Al was not expected
Background: We aimed to describe the outcome of a computerized intravenous insulin infusion (CII) protocol integrated to the electronic health record (EHR) system and to improve the CII protocol in silico using the EHR-based predictors of the outcome. Methods: Clinical outcomes of the patients who underwent the CII protocol between July 2016 and February 2017 and their matched controls were evaluated. In the CII protocol group (n=91), multivariable binary logistic regression analysis models were
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) has emerged as a revolutionary neurosurgical treatment for various movement and psychiatric disorders. Its development, rooted in advances in stereotactic surgery and early thalamotomies, led to its FDA approval for essential tremor (1997) and Parkinson's disease (2002), followed by applications in dystonia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and epilepsy. While DBS has proven effective in these domains, research continues to explore its potential for treating cond
This paper presents an active scanning method for an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) equipped with an imagesonar to generate an underwater 3-dimensional (3D) map. As sonar information measured by AUVs is a useful feature to generateaccurate 3D maps underwater, where high turbidity and signal attenuation are prevalent, we propose a two-stage seabed scanningmethod: 1) scan over a designated area to generate a 3D occupancy map and represent uncertain regions in the occupancy map interms of entr
Purpose: Although percutaneous catheter-based ablation of renal sympathetic nerve fibers has been used in the treatment of patients with resistant hypertension, a recent phase III study did not confirm its efficacy. In this study, we developed a novel laparoscopic renal denervation system and evaluated its safety and initial feasibility using an animal model. Materials and Methods: A novel surgical instrument that uses a smart algorithm with temperature-monitoring feedback was developed. We used
