15NWO is associated with a higher degree of subclinical vascular inflammation, of which BF is a major contributing factor. These results warrant investigations for subclinical atherosclerosis in NWO patients.
This case report clearly illustrates defined simultaneous cerebrospinal fluid leaks at the cervicothoracic and upper lumbar areas. A 53-year-old woman without a remarkable medical history was hospitalized for sudden onset of severe headache. The headache lasted more than 1 week and standing or sitting positions exaggerated the symptoms, although it was relieved when the patient was recumbent. Radionuclide cisternography was performed using 150 MBq (4 mCi) Tc-99m DTPA. It revealed two cerebrospin
To evaluate clinical values of clinicopathologic and 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT)-related parameters for prediction of v-Ki-ras2 Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS) mutation in colorectal cancer (CRC) and to investigate their variability depending on C-reactive protein (CRP) levels. In total, 179 CRC patients who underwent PET/CT scans before curative resection and KRAS mutation evaluation following surgery were enrolled
A 72-year-old man presented to the hospital with a cyst in the abdominal cavity as the main finding obtained by abdominal CT. The cyst measured 13.5×9 cm and was located near the proximal wall of the body of the stomach. Endoscopic ultrasonography revealed that, the size of the cyst was 8.6×8.8 cm and that most of it was anechoic. However, partially heterogeneous and hypoechoic solid portions and a septum were detected. This cystic lesion was separated from the stomach wall and pancreas. Surgica
RTHP after RIAT showed a strong female predominance, despite the higher administration dose of RAI in male patients. Although the decreased incidence of RTHP after RIAT with age is similar to the pattern of RTHP induced by other causes, the fact that older patients, even sixth decade patients, can present with RTHP after RIAT is noteworthy in the management of DTC.
The aim of this study was to develop a highly reliable radiofluorination method for the preparation of N-{2-[4-(2-methoxyphenyl)piperazinyl]ethyl}-N-(2-pyridyl)-N-(4-(18) F-fluoromethylcyclohexane)carboxamide ([(18) F]Mefway) by using a fully automated system. The optimal condition is composed of two parts. The extraction system of the trapped F-18 in the anion exchange resin (i.e., quaternary methylamine cartridge) is a complex of Kryptofix 2.2.2. (K222, 4 mg/0.9 mL methanol) and K2 CO3 (1 mg/0
A 44-year-old female patient received proctocolectomy and chemotherapy for a diagnosis of colon cancer 10 years previously and presented here with new onset of cough for 2 months and a progressive increase of her serum CA19-9 level. F-FDG PET/CT imaging revealed a hypermetabolic lesion within the trachea. Immunostaining confirmed that this lesion was a metastatic adenocarcinoma that originated from the patient's initial colon cancer. F-FDG PET/CT enabled localization of unusual endotracheal meta
RT is an effective treatment for patients with spinal metastases, and there were significant changes in PET parameters compared with baseline. The metabolic response measured by SUV and TLG changes in FDG-PET/CT correlated with the clinical outcomes, especially with shorter PFS in patients who had higher residual maximum SUV after treatment.
BACKGROUND: There are no objective and accurate rating tools for permanent impairment of traumatized ankles. The purpose of this study is to assess the role of 18F-Sodium fluoride (18F-NaF) positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT) bone scans in evaluating patients with limited ankle range of motion (ROM) after trauma. METHODS: 18F-NaF PET/CT was performed in 121 patients (75 men, 46 women; mean age: 45.8) who had ROM < 70% of normal after trauma affecting ankles. Metabolic targe
We report a case of unusual 131I uptake in the skull in a patient who received total thyroidectomy and cervical lymph node dissection for papillary thyroid carcinoma. This uptake mimicked a bone metastasis on posttherapeutic 131I whole-body scan. The lesion was further evaluated by 131I SPECT/CT and MRI, and it was identified as intraosseous hemangioma. For the prevention of unnecessary repeat ablation therapies and physicians' confusion, the nuclear medicine physicians have to consider the 131I
A 56-year-old man who had a history of repeated previous treatment for cystitis was admitted with abdominal distension, dysuria, pollakiuria, nocturia and sensation of urine retention after emptying the bladder. A CT scan showed a 10 cm irregularly shaped soft tissue mass abutting the anterosuperior aspect of the urinary bladder with wall thickening and a soft tissue component in the caecum. Colonoscopy revealed an encircling huge fungating mass on the caecum. The tumour was removed surgically.
