연구실 소개
홍태경 교수의 연구실은 주로 지역지진학과 지각 내 파면의 전파 특성에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 특히 Lg 파동의 감쇠 특성과 지형적·구조적 불균일성이 지진파에 미치는 영향을 체계적으로 분석하고 있습니다. 한국과 일본 주변의 해양·대륙 경계 지역에서의 지진파 전파 메커니즘을 규명하고, 핵실험과 자연지진의 구분, 지속적인 지진 활성도 변화의 기원을 규명하는 데 주력하고 있습니다. 최근에는 대규모 지진 후 지각 응력장 변화와 관련된 지진 활성도 증가 현상에 대한 통계적·물리적 분석도 진행 중입니다.

Abstract The seismicity in the Korean Peninsula has increased since the 2011 M w 9.0 Tohoku‐Oki megathrust earthquake. Two strike‐slip earthquakes with magnitudes of M L 5.1 and 5.8 occurred in the southeastern Korean Peninsula on 12 September 2016. The two events occurred within 48 min. Abstract A recent dense deployment of seismic stations in South Korea and Japan allows regional seismic imaging of the far-east Asian region that experienced continental collisions and riftings. We perform seismic imaging based on a mantle-lid P -wave ( Pn ) travel-time tomography to exploit the tectonic imprints in the lithosphere. The passage of seismic waves through highly heterogeneous media leads to significant scattering of seismic energy and an apparent attenuation of seismic signals emerging from the heterogeneous zone. Abstract The 9 October 2006 underground nuclear explosion (UNE) test in North Korea was well monitored by dense regional seismic stations in South Korea, Japan, and China. The mechanism of regional shear wave excitation by underground nuclear explosions (UNE), a long‐standing issue in nuclear seismology, is investigated by studying the phase composition of regional waves from clustered UNE.
