15We report a method of preoperatively calculating resected and ischemic volume with a novel formula. This method has superior correlation with the absolute and percent change in estimated glomerular filtration rate compared to current nephrometry systems. The predictive model achieved a strong correlation for the absolute and percent change in estimated glomerular filtration rate.
OBJECTIVE: To compare long-term functional outcomes and pain scale scores of patients who underwent laparoendoscopic single-site (LESS)- robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) to those who underwent conventional RAPN (C-RAPN), as LESS surgery is increasingly being adopted by urologists worldwide to reduce morbidities and scarring associated with surgical interventions. PATIENTS AND METHODS: In all, 167 consecutive patients who had RAPN were identified from our Institutional Review Board-appro
PKLD volumetry using AI was fast and accurate. AI performed comparably to human specialists, suggesting its use may be practical in clinical settings.
INTRODUCTION: Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) is implicated in bladder fibrosis after spinal cord injury (SCI) and in the fibrosis in the corpus cavernosum tissue after cavernous nerve injury. AIM: We investigated the differential expression of TGF-β1 and the Smad transcription factor, the key molecule for the initiation of TGF-β-mediated fibrosis, in cavernous tissue from SCI patients. METHODS: After obtaining informed consent and approval from the patients and our institutional review b
PURPOSE: To evaluate the safety and feasibility of a simplified zero ischemia technique using kidney donor computed tomographic (CT) angiography and conventional laparoscopic bulldog clamps. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a review of seven robot-assisted partial nephrectomies (RAPNs) performed by a single surgeon from January 2012 to May 2012. Using a simplified protocol of 3-dimentional reconstruction, tertiary arterial branches supplying the tumor were selectively clamped prior to resecti
The procedural results of RALDN were comparable or superior to HALDN. Our RALDN approach is safe and feasible, and the procedure appears to be significantly easier for the surgeon. We suggest that our findings be externally validated to reassure reproducibility of the measurement in a prospective evaluation.
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate whether assessing the anatomical characteristics of renal masses increases the accuracy of prediction of tumour pathology in small renal masses (SRMs). PATIENTS AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 1129 consecutive patients who underwent extirpative surgeries for a clinical T1 renal mass, for which the preoperative aspects and dimensions used for an anatomical (PADUA) classification were available. Multivariate logistic regression analyses of demographic and anatomical
BACKGROUND: Optimal treatment approaches for high-risk localized and locally advanced prostate cancer remain controversial and there are currently no standard treatments. These patients with high-risk localized and locally advanced prostate cancer are usually offered radiotherapy in combination with hormonal therapy. We report functional and oncologic outcomes of patients who underwent primary robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) and assess the role of RARP in patients with high-risk loca
Various neurovascular bundle-sparing techniques have been introduced to maximize recovery of erectile function after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). The clipless intrafascial neurovascular bundle-sparing technique aims to preserve periprostatic structures and neurovascular bundles as much as possible by avoiding clipping of the vascular pedicles. This study reports 1-year functional and oncologic outcomes and postoperative complications in 105 patients with intact preoperative erect
Background and Objectives: Multiple factors are associated with postoperative functional outcomes, such as acute kidney injury (AKI), following partial nephrectomy (PN). The pre-, peri-, and postoperative factors are heavily intertwined and change dynamically, making it difficult to predict postoperative renal function. Therefore, we aimed to build an artificial intelligence (AI) model that utilizes perioperative factors to predict residual renal function and incidence of AKI following PN. Metho
Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) has largely replaced open radical prostatectomy as the standard surgical treatment for prostate cancer. However, postoperative urinary incontinence still persists and has a significant impact on quality of life. We report the superior results of the detrusorrhaphy technique during RARP that helps achieve early continence. Our prospective study involved 95 consecutive patients who underwent RARP between March 2015 and May 2017; fifty patients underwent
OBJECTIVES: To assess the correlation of the resected and ischaemic volume (RAIV), which is a preoperatively calculated volume of nephron loss, with the amount of postoperative renal function (PRF) decline after minimally invasive partial nephrectomy (PN) in a multi-institutional dataset. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We identified 348 patients from March 2005 to December 2013 at six institutions. Data on all cases of laparoscopic (n = 85) and robot-assisted PN (n = 263) performed were retrospectively g
The locations of malignant lesions derived from our robotic indentation system correlated strongly with the locations of suspected areas of malignancy on MRI scans. Our robotic system may provide a more targeted biopsy of the prostate than conventional non-targeted systemic biopsy, possibly improving the diagnostic accuracy of prostatic biopsies for cancer.
This study identifies that the increasing occurrence of uncertainties due to persistent global issues has led to significant disruptions and delays in the maritime container supply process, resulting in substantial losses and bankruptcies for many logistics companies. Consequently, this research classifies the impact of uncertainties based on different global issues and groups them according to the process occurrence region for analysis. Furthermore, using system dynamics, a Casual Loop Diagram
