Automated immunohistochemical assessment ability to evaluate estrogen and progesterone receptor status compared with quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction in breast carcinoma patients
Taesung Jeon, Aeree Kim, Chungyeul Kim
SJR Q2Journal of Pathology and Translational MedicineOA

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to investigate the capability of an automated immunohistochemical (IHC) evaluation of hormonal receptor status in breast cancer patients compared to a well-validated quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) method. METHODS: This study included 93 invasive breast carcinoma cases that had both standard IHC assay and Oncotype Dx assay results. The same paraffin blocks on which Oncotype Dx assay had been performed were selected. Estrogen rec

Characterization of MYC Rearrangements in Multiple Myeloma: an Optical Genome Mapping Approach
Jung Hee Yoon, Taesung Jeon, Jung‐Ah Kwon, Soo‐Young Yoon
SJR Q1Blood Cancer JournalOA

Multiple myeloma (MM) is characterized by complex, heterogeneous genetic abnormalities that significantly affect disease progression, treatment response, and prognosis. Recurrent genetic alterations in MM include primary events such as immunoglobulin heavy chain (IGH) structural variations (SVs) and hyperdiploidy, and secondary events associated with disease progression, including 1q gain, 17p deletion, and MYC rearrangements [ 1 ]. Risk stratification in MM is largely based on these genetic alt

Gene‐level dissection of chromosome 3q locus amplification in squamous cell carcinoma of the lung using the nCounter assay

SJR Q2Thoracic CancerOA

BACKGROUND: Amplification of the 3q region has been identified as a useful biomarker for the diagnosis and treatment of squamous cell carcinoma (SqCC). This region contains genes such as PIK3CA and YEATS2, which have been linked to the prognosis of SqCC. METHODS: The NanoString nCounter assay is a powerful tool for identifying genetic alterations that affect the progression and prognosis of SqCC. The NanoString nCounter assay was used to identify a subgroup of patients with gene level gain in th

Introduction: Tertiary Lymphoid Structures (TLS) in cancer tissue are potential sites for the organisation of immune responses to cancer, and correlate positively with improved clinical outcomes for patients including in colorectal cancer (CRC). However it has proven challenging to standardise assessment of TLS due to the highly variable appearances of circumscribed domains of TLS within tissue sections. A recent three-dimensional reconstruction of TLS in CRC tissue showed that TLS are often lar

Epidemiological characteristics and importance of lobulation of giant epidermal cysts: An 18-year retrospective review of 19 cases
Kyu-Il Lee, Sik Namgoong, Hi‐Jin You, Taesung Jeon
SJR Q3MedicineOA

Giant epidermal cysts, which have a diameter of ≥5 cm, have rarely been reported. Giant epidermal cysts that have multiple lobules are referred to as multilocular giant epidermal cysts. This study aims to establish the epidemiological characteristics and statistically determine the significance of lobulation in giant epidermal cysts. Data on 19 patients who developed giant epidermal cysts between January 2003 and February 2021 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were divided into 2 groups ba

Extraskeletal Osteochondroma in the Posterior Neck of a Middle-Aged Female: A Case Report
Winnah Wu-in Lea, Suk‐Joo Hong, Woo Young Kang, Taesung Jeon
SJR Q4Journal of the Korean Society of RadiologyOA

Extraskeletal osteochondroma, a variant of chondroma, typically arises in the para-articular location of hands and feet. It is a rare disease and is particularly uncommon when joint components are not involved or localized away from joints. Herein, we report a case of extraskeletal osteochondroma in the posterior neck of a 66-year-old female. The characteristic radiologic finding of our case is presented, along with the typical findings of the disease and review of related literature reports.

Primary Esophageal Mucosa-associated Lymphoid Tissue Lymphoma: A Rare Case Report and Review of Other Published Data
J. Bang, Jinhyong Kang, Seung Han Kim, Jong‐Jae Park, Beom Jae Lee, Moon Kyung Joo, Taesung Jeon
The Korean Journal of Helicobacter and Upper Gastrointestinal ResearchOA

The gastrointestinal tract is the most common extranodal site for lymphomas, and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma is the second most common histological lymphoma subtype. However, primary esophageal mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphomas are extremely rare. Few such cases are documented, and the reports demonstrate inconsistent diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Herein, a 54-year-old man was referred to our hospital for treatment of dysphagia. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy reveal

Journal of the Korean Neurological AssociationOA

Ischemic stroke is a medical emergency that requires precise diagnosis and prompt treatment. Nonetheless, it is essential to evaluate alternative conditions, such as seizure, peripheral neuropathy and malignancy, with special attention to lymphoma due to its variable clinical manifestations, imaging features, and prognosis. In this report, we present a case of a patient who initially exhibited symptoms and radiological findings considered as lacunar stroke but was ultimately diagnosed with diffu
