SJR Q1CellsOA

Dermatopontin (DPT) is an extensively distributed non-collagenous component of the extracellular matrix predominantly found in the dermis of the skin, and consequently expressed in several tissues. In this study, we explored the role of DPT in myogenesis and perceived that it enhances the cell adhesion, reduces the cell proliferation and promotes the myoblast differentiation in C2C12 cells. Our results reveal an inhibitory effect with fibronectin (FN) in myoblast differentiation. We also observe

SJR Q2Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics

Herein, we revealed a symmetry-breaking charge transfer (SBCT) process in the excited state of a directly linked push-pull porphyrin dyad (AD) and triad (ADA) via spectroscopic measurements including steady-state absorption and fluorescence, time-resolved fluorescence (TRF), femtosecond transient absorption (fs-TA), and time-resolved infrared (TRIR) measurements. Unprecedented broad fluorescence spectra were observed for porphyrin arrays in polar solvents; these were attributed to the existence

Two-Step Charge Separation Passing Through the Partial Charge-Transfer State in a Molecular Dyad
Taeyeon Kim, Woojae Kim, Olena Vakuliuk, Daniel T. Gryko, Dongho Kim
SJR Q1Journal of the American Chemical Society

Charge separation (CS) in molecular systems usually takes place in weakly coupled donor-acceptor dyads where an electron charge moves from the donor to the acceptor in the local excited state of a chromophore. Herein, we present a two-step charge-separation process in a newly synthesized diketopyrrolopyrrole-pyrrolopyrrole (DPP-PP) dyad (<b>AD</b>), which starts from the initial photoexcited bright exciton and goes through a partial charge-transfer (CT) state before finally reaching the charge-s

The objective of the present study was to compare the efficacy of two commercial type 1 porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) modified live vaccines against heterologous type 1 and type 2 PRRSV challenge in growing pigs. Vaccination with a type 1 PRRSV vaccine reduced the level of viremia after type 1 PRRSV challenge but did not reduce the level of viremia after the type 2 PRRSV challenge in pigs. Increased levels of interleukin-10 (IL-10) stimulated by type 2 PRRSV coincid

π-Stacking-Dependent Vibronic Couplings Drive Excited-State Dynamics in Perylenediimide Assemblies
Taeyeon Kim, Chenjian Lin, Jonathan D. Schultz, Ryan M. Young, Michael R. Wasielewski
SJR Q1Journal of the American Chemical Society

Vibronic coupling, the interplay of electronic and nuclear vibrational motion, is considered a critical mechanism in photoinduced reactions such as energy transfer, charge transfer, and singlet fission. However, our understanding of how particular vibronic couplings impact excited-state dynamics is lacking due to the limited number of experimental studies of model molecular systems. Herein, we use two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy (2DES) to launch and interrogate a range of vibronic cohere

SJR Q1Angewandte Chemie International Edition

Abstract Two giant calix[ n ]phyrin derivatives namely calix[8]‐ ( 4 ) and calix[16]phyrin ( 5 ), involving two and four BF 2 units, respectively, were prepared through the condensation of the bis‐naphthobipyrrolylmethene‐BF 2 complex ( 3 ) with pentafluorobenzaldehyde. Calix[ n ]phyrins 4 and 5 display extremely high extinction coefficients (3.67 and 4.82×10 5 m −1 cm −1 , respectively) in the near‐IR region, which was taken as initial evidence for strong excitonic coupling within these cyclic

SJR Q1The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

This study aims to show that the symmetry-breaking charge transfer (SBCT) in a donor–acceptor–donor (DAD) porphyrin triad occurs via solvent and structural fluctuations measured by using femtosecond broadband fluorescence upconversion spectroscopy, which can directly trace the origin of the emitting state by monitoring its emission dipole moment as a function of time. While the emission dipole moment of the triad in the excited state remains nearly unchanged in nonpolar solvents such as cyclohex

SJR Q1Journal of the American Chemical SocietyOA

Supramolecular assembly based on aromatic interactions can provide well-defined nanostructures with an understanding of intermolecular interactions at the molecular level. The peptide assembly via a supramolecular approach can overcome the inherent limitations of bioactive peptides, such as proteolytic degradations and rapid internalizations into the cytosol. Although extensive research has been carried out on supramolecular peptide materials with a two-dimensional (2D) structure, more needs to

A new sensorless drive scheme for a BLDC motor based on the terminal voltage difference
Taeyeon Kim, Chungil Kim, Joon Lyou

This paper presents a new sensorless drive scheme for a brushless DC (BLDC) motor based on the terminal voltage difference. Unlike the zero crossing point (ZCP) of the phase back electro-motive force (BEMF) which has been used in the conventional sensorless drive schemes, the ZCP of the BEMF difference between two phases corresponds to the commutation point of a BLDC motor accurately. So as to detect the ZCP and adopt it to the BLDC motor commutation, a circuit which constitutes of a differentia

SJR Q2Indoor and Built Environment

Phase change materials (PCMs) absorb or release a large amount of heat when changing phase from solid to liquid or vice versa. When this characteristic of PCM is utilized, it can be employed effectively for energy conversation in buildings. To apply PCM to buildings, the thermal characteristics of PCM must be considered, such as the melting temperature and temperature range of the phase changes. In addition, the characteristics of the heating and cooling system, which influence the cycle of PCM

SJR Q1BMC MicrobiologyOA

BACKGROUND: Ribonuclease III (RNase III) activity modulates hundreds of genes in Escherichia coli (E. coli). YmdB, a member of the macrodomain protein family, is one of known trans-acting regulators of RNase III activity; however, the significance of its regulatory role in specific bacterial cellular processes and related genes has not been determined. YmdB overexpression was used to model YmdB-induced RNase III inhibition in vivo, and microarray analysis identified gene targets and cellular pro
