15OBJECTIVE: To investigate ictal hyperperfusion patterns during semiologic progression of seizures, the authors performed SPECT subtraction in 50 patients with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). METHODS: The patients were categorized into five groups according to semiologic progression during ictal SPECT (Group 1 had aura only; Group 2 had motionless staring with or without aura; Group 3 had motionless staring and then automatism with or without aura; Group 4 had motionless staring and then dystonic p
UNLABELLED: The ictal hyperperfusion (compared with the interictal state) of the cerebellum and basal ganglia has not been investigated systematically in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). Their ictal perfusion patterns were analyzed in relation to temporal and frontal hyperperfusion during TLE seizures using SPECT subtraction. METHODS: Thirty-three TLE patients had interictal and ictal SPECT, video-electroencephalographic (EEG) monitoring, and volumetric MRI. SPECT subtraction with MRI
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has a bidirectional relationship with insulin resistance conditions; however, the mechanism remains unclear. This study aimed to compare dynamic nocturnal glucose changes among patients with OSA of varying levels of severity and evaluate temporal changes associated with the cardinal features of OSA (sympathetic hyperactivation, intermittent hypoxemia, and sleep fragmentation) in nondiabetic subjects. Nocturnal glucose was measured with a continuous glucose monitorin
Cell therapy products are regulated by the M inistry of F ood and D rug S afety under the P harmaceutical A ffairs A ct in K orea. Sixteen cell therapy products including three stem cells were approved for marketing authorization, and 155 clinical protocols have been approved. Due to the lack of complete understanding of various cellular product characteristics and limited experience on these products, there are many regulatory challenges to the reliable evaluation of safety and efficacy of thes
Reinforcement learning (RL) has achieved considerable success in many fields, but applying it to real-world problems can be costly and risky because it requires a lot of online interaction. Recently, offline RL has shown the possibility of extracting a solution through existing logged data without online interaction. In this work, we propose an offline hierarchical RL method, Guider (Guide to Control), that can efficiently solve long-horizon and sparse-reward tasks from offline data. The high-le
Wearable devices may be used to evaluate sleep in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). This study compared the use of two wearable devices (the Fitbit Charge 2 (FC2) and Galaxy Watch 2 (GW2)) with that of polysomnography (PSG) for assessing the sleep time of OSA patients. A total of 127 consecutive patients with OSA underwent overnight PSG while wearing the FC2 and GW2 on their nondominant wrist. We compared the total sleep time (TST) determined by the devices with that obtained by PSG
Repeated arousals during sleep in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) may lead to altered functional connectivity (FC) of the ascending reticular activating system (ARAS). We evaluated resting-state FC between eight ARAS nuclei and 105 cortical/subcortical regions in OSA patients and healthy controls. Fifty patients with moderate to severe OSA and 20 controls underwent overnight polysomnography and resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging. Seed-to-voxel analysis of ARAS-cortex FC was compar
Objectives: Obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) and insomnia are two of the most common sleep disorders in the general population. Because OSAHS patients with insomnia may have difficulty in adapting to the sleep breathing medical equipment, it is necessary to pay special attention to the diagnosis and treatment of comorbid insomnia. This study is to investigate the emotion and personality in OSAHS patients with insomnia complaints by using Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Invento
