연구실 소개

배외식 교수의 연구실은 면역세포, 특히 호산구와 대식세포의 기능 조절 메커니즘을 중심으로, 비정상적인 염증 반응과 관련된 신호전달 경로를 규명하고 있습니다. 주로 FPR2 수용체를 중심으로 한 신호 전달 경로, 특히 MAPK 및 Akt 경로를 통한 세포 반응 조절, 그리고 SAA와 같은 급성기 반응 단백질이 면역 반응과 뼈 대사에 미치는 영향을 연구하고 있습니다. 또한 신체의 초기 면역 반응을 조절하는 새로운 펩타이드 및 수용체의 기능을 탐색하며, 염증성 장질환 및 골다골로시스 등 만성 염증 질환의 치료 전략 개발에 기여하고 있습니다.

Wnt5a stimulates chemotactic migration and chemokine production in human neutrophils

Wnt5a is a ligand that activates the noncanonical Wnt signaling pathways (b-catenin-independent pathways). Human neutrophils expressed several Wnt5a receptors, such as Frizzled 2, 5 and 8. Stimulation of human neutrophils with Wnt5a caused chemotactic migration and the production of two important chemokines, CXCL8 and CCL2. The immune-stimulating peptide WKYMVm has therapeutic effects against ulcerative colitis

In this study, we examined the therapeutic effects of an immune-stimulating peptide, WKYMVm, in ulcerative colitis. The administration of WKYMVm to dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-treated mice reversed decreases in body weight, bleeding score and stool score in addition to reversing DSS-induced mucosa destruction and shortened colon. Serum amyloid A (SAA) induced CCL2 production via a pertussis toxin (PTX)-insensitive pathway in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). SAA induced the activation of three MAPKs (ERK, p38 MAPK,and JNK), which were completely inhibited by knock-down of formyl peptide receptor 2 (FPR2). Lysophosphatidic acid protects against acetaminophen-induced acute liver injury

We investigated the effect of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) in experimental acetaminophen (APAP)-induced acute liver injury. Serum amyloid A inhibits dendritic cell differentiation by suppressing GM-CSF receptor expression and signaling

In this study, we report that an acute phase reactant, serum amyloid A (SAA), strongly inhibits dendritic cell differentiation induced by GM-CSF plus IL-4. SAA markedly decreased the expression of MHCII and CD11c. Moreover, SAA decreased cell surface GM-CSF receptor expression.
