SJR Q1Cancer Research and TreatmentOA

BMP-2 seems to have a role in progression to metastatic disease in gastric cancer, especially in the late stage of tumorigenesis, including invasion and metastasis. BMP-2 may facilitate bone metastasis in gastric cancer. To confirm these findings, further studies are required with tissue specimens and the use of a cancer cell line.

In the culture system using human feeder cells, the mechanism through which these cells support undifferentiated growth of embryonic stem cells (ESCs) has not been well investigated. Here, we explored the mechanisms of 3 kinds of human feeder cells, including human placental cells from the chorionic plate, human bone marrow stromal cells, and human foreskin fibroblasts. First, we determined that undifferentiated growth of 2 kinds each of human (H1 and HSF6) and mouse (D3 and CE3) ESCs was possib

In September 2011, the Korean Society of Hematology Lymphoma Working Party held a nationwide conference to establish a consensus for assessing bone marrow (BM) involvement in patients with lymphoma. At this conference, many clinicians, hematopathologists, and diagnostic hematologists discussed various topics for a uniform consensus in the evaluation process to determine whether the BM is involved. Now that the discussion has matured sufficiently to be published, we herein describe the consensus

Undifferentiated Propagation of the Human Embryonic Stem Cell Lines, H1 and HSF6, on Human Placenta-Derived Feeder Cells Without Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor Supplementation

SJR Q2Stem Cells and Development

In order for human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) to be cultured on mouse embryonic fibroblast (MEFs) feeder cells, continuous basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) supplementation is required. However, the role of bFGF in a culture system using human-derived feeder cells has not been evaluated until now. In this study, we propagated the widely used hESC lines, H1 and HSF6, on human placenta-derived feeder cells (HPCs) without exogenous bFGF supplementation, and were able to propagate hESCs on HPC

SJR Q1Scientific ReportsOA

Numerous studies have analysed the clinical efficacies of hypomethylating agents (HMAs) in patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). However, reports that compare the two HMAs, decitabine and azacitidine, in patients with lower-risk (low and intermediate-1) MDS are limited. We compared 5-day decitabine and 7-day azacitidine regimens in terms of treatment responses, survival outcomes, and adverse events in patients with lower-risk MDS with poor prognostic features. The overall response rates

Extracellular vesicle (EV) proteins from acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cell lines were analyzed using mass spectrometry. The analyses identified 2450 proteins, including 461 differentially expressed proteins (290 upregulated and 171 downregulated). CD53 and CD47 were upregulated and were selected as candidate biomarkers. The association between survival of patients with AML and the expression levels of CD53 and CD47 at diagnosis was analyzed using mRNA expression data from The Cancer Genome Atlas

Abstract Background Single‐dose etoposide was used an outpatient‐based protocol for mobilization in patients with multiple myeloma (MM) for autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT). Thus, we retrospectively analyzed the efficacy and safety of our one‐day protocol in comparison with that of previous methods. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 168 patients with MM who underwent peripheral blood stem cell collection for upfront ASCT between 2008 and 2018. The mobilization protocols included G‐C

The use of a mouse embryonic fibroblast (MEF) feeder for culture of embryonic stem cells (ESCs) is a widely accepted method, regardless of the ESCs' origin and type. In this study, we performed the undifferentiated propagation of human ES cell lines (hESCs, H1, and HSF6) and mouse ES cell lines (mESCs, D3, and CE3), which were previously maintained on an MEF feeder, using human placenta-derived fibroblast-like cell (HPC) feeders originated from chorionic villi of women who had undergone therapeu

Efficacy Of Ruxolitinib In Korean Myelofibrosis Patients and Cases Complicated TB Lymphadenitis During The Treatment

Abstract Introduction Ruxolitinib is a selective JAK 1/2 inhibitor, which shows an excellent treatment outcome in myelofibrosis (MF) patients. Main side effect of JAK 1/2 inhibitors is an increased risk of infection. JAK1/2 inhibition may interfere with the differentiation of interferon-γ (IFN-γ) producing Th1 cells and IFN-γ is a key cytokine involved in protective immunity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis(TB). During COMPORT-II trial, a case of disseminated TB with ruxolitinib was reported.

SJR Q1Blood

Abstract Purpose Based on CALGB trial in 1994, 3-4 cycles of high-dose cytarabine have been one of the standard consolidation therapies. Despite the confirmed efficacy of anthracyclines for remission induction, the role of anthracyclines for postremission consolidation is a subject still under debate. In this retrospective analysis, we compared the efficacy of high-dose cytarabine (>=1.5 g/m2) and intermediate-dose cytarabine (1 g/m2) combined with anthracyclines as postremission therapy. Met
