15Coronary artery disease, especially acute myocardial infarction (AMI), is a leading cause of death in the Asia-Pacific region. The Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry (KAMIR) is the first nationwide, prospective, multicenter registry of Korean patients with AMI. Since the KAMIR first began in November 2005, more than 70,000 patients have been enrolled, and 230 papers have been published (as of October 2018). Moreover, published data from the KAMIR have revealed different characteristics f
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Feasibility of coronary angiography (CAG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) via left snuffbox approach is still concerned. We aimed to investigate efficacy and safety of the left snuffbox approach for CAG and PCI. METHODS: Left snuffbox approach was tried in 150 patients who planned to perform CAG or PCI for suspected myocardial ischemia between 1 November 2017 and 31 March 2018. RESULTS: Success rate of radial artery (RA) cannulation via snuffbox approach w
The H(+)-pyrophosphatase (V-PPase) of plant vacuolar membranes catalyzes the electrogenic translocation of H+ from the cytosol to vacuole lumen and, in parallel with the vacuolar H(+)-ATPase located in the same membrane, establishes the inside-acid, inside-positive H(+)-electrochemical potential difference responsible for energizing the H(+)-coupled transport of solutes into the vacuole. The results of previous investigations suggest that the gene encoding the substrate-binding subunit of the V-
Abstract Recently, coronary angiography (CAG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) via the distal radial access (DRA), are gaining attention owing to fewer complications. Despite the advantages of the DRA, there is difficulty to initiate this new vascular approach. The data from 1000 patients who underwent CAG and PCI via the DRA by a single experienced radial operator were retrospectively analyzed. The primary outcome was the success rate of the DRA per 100 cases. Moreover, the predicto
Females has a significantly smaller distal RA diameter compared to males. Moreover, the success rate of the distal RA approach tends to be higher in men than in women.
The mixing-length theory (MLT) approximation (Vitense 1953) is used in most stellar evolution codes to describe the structure of the outer, highly superadiabatic, layers of the Sun. This procedure is known to be incorrect because of the MLT's inadequacies in describing convection and because of the need to include the strong coupling between radiation and convection in modeling this region. However, it is not known to what extent and precisely in what ways the MLT approximation distorts the stru
To study the turbulent convection and the interaction with radiation around the highly superadiabatic layer (SAL), the fully compressible hydrodynamics equations in conservative forms and the equation of radiative transport with the generalized three-dimensional Eddington approximation have been solved, utilizing the "alternating direction implicit on staggered mesh" technique. The computational domain spanned a total of 4.4 pressure scale heights initially, which included about 2 pressure scale
In the setting of STEMI, the DRA could be a feasible alternative access route for primary PCI.
In an attempt to understand the properties of convective energy transport in the solar convective zone, a numerical model has been constructed for turbulent flows in a compressible, radiation-coupled, nonmagnetic, gravitationally stratified medium using a realistic equation of state and realistic opacities. The time-dependent, three-dimensional hydrodynamic equations are solved with minimal simplifications. The statistical information obtained from the present simulation provides an improved und
BACKGROUND: Recently developed artificial intelligence-based coronary angiography (AI-QCA, fully automated) provides real-time, objective, and reproducible quantitative analysis of coronary angiography without requiring additional time or labor. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of AI-QCA-assisted percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) compared to optical coherence tomography (OCT)-guided PCI in terms of post-PCI results. METHODS: . RESULTS: in the OCT group (difference, -0
