15OBJECTIVES: Although a broad range of circadian rhythm variations have been reported, analyses of chronotypes in bipolar I disorder (BDI) and schizophrenia are rare. The present study aimed to investigate specific chronotype patterns in BDI and schizophrenia compared with healthy subjects. METHODS: All patients were clinically stable and recruited from the outpatient clinics of Seoul National University Hospital. They were diagnosed according to DSM-IV criteria. 'Morningness/eveningness', a chro
Both minor and major depression have high prevalence and are important causes of social burden worldwide; however, there is still no objective indicator to detect minor depression. This study aimed to examine if voice could be used as a biomarker to detect minor and major depression. Ninety-three subjects were classified into three groups: the not depressed group (n = 33), the minor depressive episode group (n = 26), and the major depressive episode group (n = 34), based on current depressive st
Despite a small proportion of patients with TRD, the prolonged duration of illness and higher comorbidity implies the need for better treatment.
Objectives:The Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) has been reported as a valid tool for the assessment of depression because it is based on the core symptoms of depression. The aim of this study is to assess the reliability, validity and psychometric properties of the Korean version of the MADRS (K-MADRS). Methods:One hundred seven patients, including in-patients and out-patients, diagnosed as major depressive disorder according to the DSM-IV criteria were enrolled in this s
GSK-3beta is regarded as playing an important part in the pathogenesis of schizophrenia and the action of psychotomimetic agents. We observed phosphorylation of molecules associated with the GSK-3beta signalling pathway in the rat brain after MK-801 injection, which induces a schizophrenia-like state in humans. Ser9-GSK-3beta phosphorylation was increased after injection of 1 mg/kg MK-801 in the rat frontal cortex but not in the hippocampus or cerebellum. This increase peaked at 30 min and was m
