Gastric cancer is one of the most common cancers in Korea and the world. Since 2004, this is the 4th gastric cancer guideline published in Korea which is the revised version of previous evidence-based approach in 2018. Current guideline is a collaborative work of the interdisciplinary working group including experts in the field of gastric surgery, gastroenterology, endoscopy, medical oncology, abdominal radiology, pathology, nuclear medicine, radiation oncology and guideline development methodo

Importance: The long-term safety of laparoscopic distal gastrectomy for locally advanced gastric cancer (AGC) remains uncertain given the lack of 5-year follow-up results. Objective: To compare the 5-year follow-up results in patients with clinically AGC enrolled in the Korean Laparoendoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgery Study (KLASS)-02 randomized clinical trial who underwent laparoscopic or open distal gastrectomy. Design, Setting, and Participants: The KLASS-02, a multicenter randomized clinical

Robotic versus Laparoscopic versus Open Gastrectomy: A Meta-Analysis

SJR Q1Journal of the Korean Gastric Cancer AssociationOA

Robotic gastrectomy for gastric cancer reduces intraoperative blood loss and the postoperative hospital length of stay compared with laparoscopic gastrectomy and open gastrectomy at a cost of a longer operating time. Robotic gastrectomy also provides an oncologically adequate lymphadenectomy. Additional high-quality prospective studies are recommended to better evaluate both short and long-term outcomes.

Clinical implication of an insufficient number of examined lymph nodes after curative resection for gastric cancer
Taeil Son, Woo Jin Hyung, Joong Ho Lee, Yoo Min Kim, Hyoung‐Il Kim, Ji Yeong An, Jae‐Ho Cheong, Sung Hoon Noh
SJR Q1CancerOA

BACKGROUND: The seventh edition of the tumor, lymph node (LN), metastasis (TNM) staging system increased the required number of examined LNs in gastric cancer from 15 to 16. However, the same staging system defines lymph node-negative gastric cancer regardless of the number of examined LNs. In this study, the authors evaluated whether gastric cancer can be staged properly with fewer than 15 examined LNs. METHODS: The survival rates of 10,010 patients who underwent curative gastrectomy from 1987

Vitamin B12 Deficiency After Gastrectomy for Gastric Cancer
Yanfeng Hu, Hyoung‐Il Kim, Woo Jin Hyung, Kijun Song, Joong Ho Lee, Yoo Min Kim, Sung Hoon Noh
SJR Q1Annals of SurgeryOA

Vitamin B12 deficiency is an inevitable and rather early metabolic sequela after TG. Elderly patients with low preoperative vitamin B12 levels are more likely to experience vitamin B12 deficiency after DG. Thus, preoperative measurement and regular postoperative monitoring of vitamin B12 levels are necessary for early detection and treatment of postgastrectomy vitamin B12 deficiency.

Patient-specific virtual three-dimensional surgical navigation for gastric cancer surgery: A prospective study for preoperative planning and intraoperative guidance

SJR Q2Frontiers in OncologyOA

Introduction Abdominal computed tomography (CT) can accurately demonstrate organs and vascular structures around the stomach, and its potential role for image guidance is becoming increasingly established. However, solely using two-dimensional CT images to identify critical anatomical structures is undeniably challenging and not surgeon-friendly. To validate the feasibility of a patient-specific 3-D surgical navigation system for preoperative planning and intraoperative guidance during robotic g
