15Abstract Background Omicron variant viruses spread rapidly, even in individuals with high vaccination rates. This study aimed to determine the utility of the antibody against spike protein level as a predictor of the disease course of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in vaccinated patients. Methods Between December 11, 2021, and February 10, 2022, we performed a prospective observational cohort study in South Korea, which included patients infected with Delta and Omicron variants. A multivari
Immunisation of household members may help to mitigate the current pandemic.
Incidence and risk of postoperative AKI were significantly higher in PA patients after surgical treatment. High ACR on the tumor side and high LI were associated with higher risk of AKI in PA patients compared to pheochromocytoma patients.
Background: There is a need for developing non-invasive biomarkers that can predict long-term kidney graft survival. Proteinuria occurs commonly after kidney transplantation and is a well-known risk factor for graft loss after kidney transplantation. However, there is no specific guideline for proteinuria in kidney transplant. The objective of this study is to clarify the association between proteinuria and long-term graft outcome based on clinical data at 1 year after kidney transplantation. Me
Dyslipidemia has been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, the role of individual lipid parameter in the development of in the progression of CKD is not well established.
Abstract Background and Aims Osteoprotegerin (OPG), which is an osteoclastic inhibitory factor, is associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus, severity of vascular calcification, coronary artery disease, and chronic kidney disease. Obesity is a risk factor for diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, however there are few studies about the relationship between OPG and obesity, especially in patients with CKD. This study aimed to investigate association between OPG level and obesity in a large-scale p
Abstract Background and Aims Osteoprotegerin (OPG), which is an osteoclastic inhibitory factor, have been shown associated with adverse renal outcomes and progression of vascular calcification in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients. Anemia and CKD-bone mineral disorders (CKD-MBD) are also frequently observed in these patients. Since CKD-MBD and anemia might be closely linked, therefore, we further examined whether OPG level as a marker for bone turnover can predict the future development of an
Abstract Background and Aims Anemia was frequently observed in chronic renal failure patients. The risk of osteoporosis is higher in patients with chronic anemia. Chronic anemia also showed a close relationship with bone mineral density. However, few studies have been done whether anemia affects bone mineral density with chronic kidney disease(CKD) patient. Therefore, the aim of our study is to evaluate the relationship between anemia and bone mineral density(BMD) in a large sample of non-dialys

The KDIGO guideline recommends target BP < 130/80 mmHg in proteinuric patients with CKD. The guideline is largely based on many clinical studies in diabetic and hypertensive patients. However, there is lack of evidence that this BP goal can also be applied to patients with glomerular diseases. Here, we studied the relationship between BP and CKD progression in patients with glomerular diseases.
In patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), many non-traditional risk factors are associated with cardiovascular events (CVEs) and death. In this study, we conducted comprehensive analysis on whether non-traditional risk factors can predict the future adverse outcomes beyond traditional risk factors. In addition, we compared the predictability of each factor and aimed to establish the most efficient predictive model
IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is the most common primary glomerulonephritis worldwide. However, identifying IgAN patients at higher risks for renal function decline is still a challenge. Recent investigations have proposed kidney size to be a risk factor for renal function decline in kidney transplantation recipients. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate whether kidney size has an effect on renal function deterioration rate in patients with IgAN.
Activation of complement system can play an important role in the pathogenesis of IgA nephropathy (IgAN). C3 and C4d can be representative markers of alternative and lectin pathway, respectively. We studied whether mesangial C3 or C4d deposits can predict adverse renal outcome better than conventional risk factors and determined relative contribution of each pathway to disease progression.
Background: The efficacy of statin uses in patients with PD have not been proven in large studies. Because most of studies included only HD patients or a small number of PD patients, there is lack of evidence whether statin have positive effect on PD patients or not. The aim of this study was to reveal the efficacy of statin uses in PD patients. Methods: A total 612 incident PD patients between January 2006 and August 2019 were included in this study. The primary outcome was all-cause mortality
