15Purpose. To evaluate the relationship between macular microstructures and visual function in retinitis pigmentosa (RP). Method. Fourier domain optical coherence tomography (FD-OCT) and Goldmann perimetry were used to examine 100 eyes of 100 RP patients. The preserved photoreceptor outer segment (PROS) length was measured at the horizontal and vertical high definition line scans. The PROS area was calculated from slab image and line scans simultaneously. The visual field area (VFA) was quantified
PURPOSE: This study aimed to establish the efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity equivalence of the proposed biosimilar CKD-701 with the reference ranibizumab in patients with treatment-naïve neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 312 participants with active subfoveal choroidal neovascularization were randomly assigned to either the CKD-701 (n = 156) or reference ranibizumab (n = 156) arms. The initial 3-month loading intraocular injections were fol
PURPOSE: To investigate how macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer (GCIPL) and retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) thicknesses within the macula change with retinitis pigmentosa (RP) severity. METHODS: Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) was used to examine 177 patients with RP and 177 normal controls. An optical coherence tomography (OCT) line scan was used to grade RP severity. Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) was categorized as more advanced if there was no identifiable inner seg
BACKGROUND: To investigate the effect of intravitreal dexamethasone implant (DEX implant) on hard exudate (HE) accompanying diabetic macular edema (DME). METHODS: This study was a non-comparative non-randomized 1-year prospective interventional study. Patients with DME and HE were treated using DEX implant two or three times. Color fundus photography and optical coherence tomography (OCT) were performed at every visit. HE area was measured semi-automatically from the fundus photographs. RESULTS:
<b>Purpose</b>: To investigate the effect of inhibitor of O-glycosylation on human corneal endothelial cells (HCECs) under oxidative stress.<b>Methods</b>: HCECs were cultured and treated with 10 mM tert-butyl hydroperoxide (tBHP) with or without PUGNAc, a known inhibitor of OGA. Cell viability was assessed. Mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm) was measured. Intracellular Ca2+ levels and mitochondrial Ca2+ levels were measured. Intracellular reactive oxygen spe
Purpose: To investigate the clinical features, natural course, and genetic characteristics of Koreans with rhodopsin-associated retinitis pigmentosa ( RHO -associated RP). Design: We conducted a retrospective, multicenter, observational cohort study. Participants: We reviewed the medical records of 42 patients with RHO -associated RP of 36 families who visited 4 hospitals in Korea. Methods: Patients with molecular confirmation of pathogenic variants of the RHO gene were included. The patients we
Purpose: To investigate the clinical characteristics of retinopathy associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and its risk factors. Methods: Medical records of patients who were diagnosed with SLE were reviewed retrospectively. The presence of retinal hemorrhage, vasculitis and a cotton wool patch were regarded as lupus retinopathy, but concomitant diabetic retinopathy and hypertensive retinopathy were excluded from the study. The correlation between the development of lupus retinopathy
PURPOSE: To evaluate microstructural changes in cystoid macular edema in retinitis pigmentosa after intravitreal dexamethasone implant injection. METHODS: In an extended cohort of a randomized trial of intravitreal dexamethasone implant for the management of retinitis pigmentosa-associated cystoid macular edema, microstructural changes during six months after the treatment were evaluated using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography. RESULTS: Forty-two eyes were included, and all had cystoi
Purpose: To investigate the clinical findings, natural course, and pigment development of patients with retinitis pigmentosa (RP) sine pigmento using multimodal imaging. Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 810 consecutive patients with RP and assessed serial ultra-widefield fundus photography, fundus autofluorescence, and optical coherence tomography images. Electrophysiological and visual field analysis findings were also reviewed. Results: Of the 774 patients with RP who met the inclus
Purpose: To investigate the clinical characteristics and visual outcome of cytomegalovirus retinitis in Korean patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) in the highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) era. Methods: The medical records of 252 patients from Seoul National University Hospital who were diagnosed with AIDS between 2003 and 2006 were reviewed retrospectively. In addition, 15 patients (19 eyes) Having cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis with a minimum follow-up period of
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a deep learning model for predicting the axial length (AL) of eyes using optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. Methods: We retrospectively included patients with AL measurements and OCT images taken within 3 months. We utilized a 5-fold cross-validation with the ResNet-152 architecture, incorporating horizontal OCT images, vertical OCT images, and dual-input images. The mean absolute error (MAE), R-squared (R2), and the percentages of eyes w
OBJECTIVE: Although central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) treatment using selective retinal therapy (SRT) has presented favourable outcomes, no long-term studies with a real-world clinical practice regimen have been conducted. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: We performed a long-term assessment of CSC treatment using SRT with real-time feedback (RTF) technology. 50 patients (53 eyes) with CSC and more than a 1-month symptom duration were recruited and treated with SRT using a 1.7 µs pulse width, 527 nm ne
This study evaluated changes in retinal sensitivity (RS) during aflibercept treatment in neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) patients with good vision. Treatment-naive nAMD patients with visual acuity better than 20/40 were treated with an aflibercept loading regiment, and RS was measured using the MAIA microperimetry device. The study examined RS differences based on visit, region, adjacent local pathology, outer retinal changes and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA
