New sets of parameters ("tunes") for the underlying-event (UE) modelling of the pythia8, pythia6 and herwig++ Monte Carlo event generators are constructed using different parton distribution functions. Combined fits to CMS UE proton-proton ([Formula: see text]) data at [Formula: see text] and to UE proton-antiproton ([Formula: see text]) data from the CDF experiment at lower [Formula: see text], are used to study the UE models and constrain their parameters, providing thereby improved prediction

Improved jet energy scale corrections, based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $19.7 fb^{-1}$ collected by the CMS experiment in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, are presented. The corrections as a function of pseudorapidity η and transverse momentum $p_T$ are extracted from data and simulated events combining several channels and methods. They account successively for the effects of pileup, uniformity of the detector response, and residua

SJR Q3Letters in Applied Microbiology

AIMS: The objective of this study was to assess in vitro, whether heat-killed (HK) lactic acid bacteria cells and fractionations of HK cells could suppress the viability of human cancer cells and inhibit the cytotoxicity associated with oxidative stress. METHODS AND RESULTS: Among the strains, the HK cells of Lactobacillus acidophilus 606 and Lactobacillus casei ATCC 393 exhibited the most profound inhibitory activity in all of the tested cell lines. HK cells of L. acidophilus 606 were determine

A bstract The $ \mathrm{t}\overline{\mathrm{t}} $ production cross section $ \left( {{\sigma_{{\mathrm{t}\overline{\mathrm{t}}}}}} \right) $ is measured in proton-proton collisions at $ \sqrt{s}=7 $ TeV in data collected by the CMS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.3 fb −1 . The measurement is performed in events with two leptons (electrons or muons) in the final state, at least two jets identified as jets originating from b quarks, and the presence of an imbalance in tr

Search for heavy narrow dilepton resonances in pp collisions at s=7 TeV and s=8 TeV

An updated search for heavy narrow resonances decaying to muon or electron pairs using the CMS detector is presented. Data samples from pp collisions at s=7 TeV and 8 TeV at the LHC, with integrated luminosities of up to 5.3 and 4.1 fb−1, respectively, are combined. No evidence for a heavy narrow resonance is observed. The analysis of the combined data sets excludes, at 95% confidence level, a Sequential Standard Model ZSSM′ resonance lighter than 2590 GeV, a superstring-inspired Zψ′ lighter tha

Tuning the Electrochemical Properties of Polymeric Cobalt Phthalocyanines for Efficient Water Splitting

SJR Q1Advanced Functional MaterialsOA

Abstract Polymeric metal phthalocyanines have great potential as electrocatalysts, yet their incorporation on a current collector without losing the activity of metal centers remains a challenge. Herein, a new strategy for preparing a series of polymeric cobalt phthalocyanines containing S linkers ( p CoPc‐1) or SO 2 linkers ( p CoPc‐2) and their tunable electrochemical properties are reported. The p CoPcs coated on various substrates show favorable electrocatalytic activities toward oxygen and

SJR Q1Advanced Energy Materials

Abstract Metal phthalocyanine (Pc) complexes are considered to be promising functional organic materials owing to their tunable properties and unique π‐electron structure. Despite these advantages, the application of polymeric metal Pc into lithium–sulfur (LiS) batteries has yet to be explored. Herein, this work demonstrates a molecular design of multifunctional polymeric cobalt Pc with triethylene glycol linkers (TCP) that provide a redox mediating capability for the Co ion in the center of th

Lithium–Sulfur Batteries In article number 2204353, Jeongyeon Lee, Ho Seok Park, and co-workers design triethylene glycol functionalized polymeric cobalt phthalocyanines uniformly coated onto multi-wall carbon nanotubes, which act as an efficient redox mediator in lithium–sulfur batteries. The as-designed materials enable co-operative catalytic and lithiophilic sites, facilitating the conversion reaction kinetics of sulfur cathodes while inhibiting polysulfide shuttling.

Identification of a novel human Rad51 variant that promotes DNA strand exchange
Jeong‐Yeol Park, H.‐W. Yoo, B.‐R. KIM, Robin Park, S.-Y. Choi, Y. Kim
SJR Q1Nucleic Acids ResearchOA

Rad51 plays a key role in the repair of DNA double-strand breaks through homologous recombination, which is the central process in the maintenance of genomic integrity. Five paralogs of the human Rad51 gene (hRad51) have been identified to date, including hRad51B, hRad51C, hRad51D, Xrcc2 and Xrcc3. In searches of additional hRad51 paralogs, we identified a novel hRad51 variant that lacked the sequence corresponding to exon 9 (hRad51-Deltaex9). The expected amino acid sequence of hRad51-Deltaex9

A single well push–pull test method for in situ determination of denitrification rates in a nitrate-contaminated groundwater aquifer
Y. Kim, Ji Hoon Kim, Bongho Son, Seong-Wook Oa
SJR Q2Water Science & Technology

In this study a single-well, "push- pull" test method is adapted for determination of in situ denitrification rates in groundwater aquifers. The rates of stepwise reduction of nitrate to nitrite, nitrous oxide, and molecular nitrogen were determined by performing a series of push-pull tests. The method consists of the controlled injection of a prepared test solution ("push") into an aquifer followed by the extraction of the test solution/ground water mixture ("pull") from the same location. A numerical method to simulate ductile failure of tensile plates with interacting through-wall cracks

SJR Q1Fatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures

This paper proposes a simple numerical method to simulate ductile failure behaviours of tensile plates with interacting through-wall cracks. The method is based on the finite element damage analysis using the stress-modified fracture strain damage model. To validate the proposed method, simulated results are compared with a total of 23 published experimental data of flat tensile plates with interacting through-wall cracks. Despite its simplicity, the proposed method well predicted the experiment

Inhibition ofEscherichia coliO157:H7 on stainless steel usingPseudomonas veroniibiofilms

SJR Q3Letters in Applied Microbiology

The presence of Escherichia coli O157:H7 on environmental surfaces of food manufacturing, transportation and storage facilities is a significant food safety concern because it can result in cross-contamination of food products. In this study, we developed a Pseudomonas veronii biofilm on the surface of a stainless steel that inhibits the growth of E. coli O157:H7. Since P. veronii in biofilm resists desiccation, it provides persistent antimicrobial activity. Information presented here provides n
