15FDG PET is more sensitive than CT for depicting nodal metastases in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus. FDG PET is slightly less specific than CT for depicting metastases, but the difference in specificity between the two modalities is statistically significant. Both FDG PET and CT have low sensitivity for depicting nodal metastasis. The relatively low specificity of FDG PET for depiction of nodal metastasis compared with that of CT is caused mainly by a high rate of false-po
Sixteen-detector row CT provides depiction and traceability of the bronchial arteries in patients with hemoptysis, and in most patients it enables detection of the bronchial and nonbronchial arteries causing hemoptysis.
Intrapulmonary bronchogenic cysts in adults appear on CT as well-defined ovoid lesions with the attenuation of soft tissue or water, similar to their mediastinal counterparts. Associated with these cysts are areas of mosaic low attenuation and bandlike linear attenuation representing histopathologically confirmed emphysema and bronchiolization or fibrotic change or both in the surrounding lung.
This study aimed to investigate whether in vivo MR-electrical properties tomography (MR-EPT) is feasible in musculoskeletal tissues by evaluating the conductivity of muscle, cartilage, and peripheral nerve around the knee joint, and to explore whether these measurements change after exercise. This prospective study was approved by the institutional review board. On February 2020, ten healthy volunteers provided written informed consent and underwent MRI of the right knee using a three-dimensiona
Abstract Background Although the obesity paradox is a topic of immense interest for oncologists and epidemiologists, the mechanism underlying this unexpected benefit of obesity is poorly understood. We explored the prognostic value of obesity and its association with skeletal muscle mass. Methods This retrospective study evaluated the data of patients who underwent surgical excision for lung adenocarcinoma between January 2011 and December 2015. Body mass index was categorized according to the c
BACKGROUND: This study aimed to evaluate the potential value of 3D multiple gradient echo Dixon-based magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequence as a tool for thigh intramuscular fat quantification in Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) patients. METHODS: A prospective comparison study comprising 18 CMT patients and 18 age/sex-matched volunteers was performed. MRI including 3D multiple gradient echo Dixon-based imaging was performed for each subject. Region of interest analyses were performed at th
BACKGROUND: Isotropic three-dimensional (3D) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been applied to various joints. However, comparison for image quality between isotropic 3D MRI and two-dimensional (2D) turbo spin echo (TSE) sequence of the wrist at a 3T MR system has not been investigated. PURPOSE: To compare the image quality of isotropic 3D MRI including TSE intermediate-weighted (VISTA) sequence and fast field echo (FFE) sequence with 2D TSE intermediate-weighted sequence of the wrist joint a
BACKGROUND: In daily practice, we discovered one of the secondary magnetic resonance (MR) findings of the subscapularis (SSC) tendon tear, the "bridging sign", which has not been previously described. PURPOSE: To describe the "bridging sign" on shoulder MR imaging and its radiological and clinical significance in patients with SSC tendon tear. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Twenty-nine patients who had undergone shoulder arthroscopy and had full-thickness tear of the subscapularis tendon were enrolled. T
BACKGROUND: Indirect magnetic resonance (MR) arthrography is a non-invasive method for shoulder imaging. However, there are no studies that have examined the diagnostic performance of indirect MR arthrography for the diagnosis of rotator cuff tears in a large patient population. PURPOSE: To assess the diagnostic performance of indirect fast spin-echo (FSE) MR arthrography for the diagnosis of rotator cuff tears at 3.0 T. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 149 patients who had undergone indirect sh
According to the new World Health Organization classification, benign bronchopulmonary tumors can be classified into epithelial tumors, mesenchymal tumors, and tumor-like conditions. Imaging findings of benign tumors of large airways are nonspecific and overlapping. Some benign pulmonary tumors show characteristic imaging findings. On CT, bronchioloalveolar adenomas appear as a small nodular area of ground-glass opacity. Metastasizing leiomyomas are seen as well-circumscribed solitary or multipl
