The immune epitope database analysis resource (IEDB-AR: http://tools.iedb.org) is a collection of tools for prediction and analysis of molecular targets of T- and B-cell immune responses (i.e. epitopes). Since its last publication in the NAR webserver issue in 2008, a new generation of peptide:MHC binding and T-cell epitope predictive tools have been added. As validated by different labs and in the first international competition for predicting peptide:MHC-I binding, their predictive performance

Geometry and seismic properties of the subducting Cocos plate in central Mexico
Young‐Hee Kim, Robert W. Clayton, Jennifer M. Jackson
SJR Q1Journal of Geophysical Research AtmospheresOA

The geometry and properties of the interface of the Cocos plate beneath central Mexico are determined from the receiver functions (RFs) utilizing data from the Meso America Subduction Experiment (MASE). The RF image shows that the subducting oceanic crust is shallowly dipping to the north at 15° for 80 km from Acapulco and then horizontally underplates the continental crust for approximately 200 km to the Trans‐Mexican Volcanic Belt (TMVB). The crustal image also shows that there is no continent

Obesity ResearchOA

OBJECTIVE: The prevalence of overweight, obesity, and metabolic disorders and their relationship with BMI were studied in South Korean adults. The appropriate BMI categories for overweight and obesity for Koreans were evaluated. RESEARCH METHODS AND PROCEDURES: The 1998 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey was the first such survey, to our knowledge, conducted on a cross-sectional and nationally representative population. The survey provided data on body weight; height; fasting

SJR Q1Journal of Geophysical Research Solid Earth

Abstract We image the slab underneath a 450 km long transect of the Alaska subduction zone to investigate (1) the geometry and velocity structure of the downgoing plate and their relationship to slab seismicity and (2) the interplate coupled zone where the great 1964 earthquake ( M w 9.2) exhibited the largest amount of rupture. The joint teleseismic migration of two array data sets based on receiver functions (RFs) reveals a prominent, shallow‐dipping low‐velocity layer at ~25–30 km depth in so

Adjoint centroid-moment tensor inversions
Young‐Hee Kim, Qinya Liu, Jeroen Tromp
SJR Q1Geophysical Journal InternationalOA

We determine centroid-moment tensor (CMT) solutions by minimizing waveform differences between observed and simulated seismograms based on an adjoint method. Synthetic seismograms and Fréchet derivatives are calculated based on a spectral-element method. The non-linear adjoint CMT inversion algorithm requires three simulations for each iteration: one ‘forward’ simulation to obtain synthetics for the current source parameters, one ‘adjoint’ simulation which involves injecting time-reversed differ

Broadband data from the Meso‐America Subduction Experiment (MASE) line in central Mexico were used to image the subducted Cocos plate and the overriding continental lithosphere beneath central Mexico using a generalized radon transform based migration. Our images provide insight into the process of subducting relatively young oceanic lithosphere and its complex geometry beneath continental North America. The converted and reverberated phase image shows complete horizontal tectonic underplating o

A unified transformation function for lower and upper bounding constraints on model parameters in electrical and electromagnetic inversion
Hee Joon Kim, Young‐Hee Kim
SJR Q2Journal of Geophysics and EngineeringOA

Since many geophysical inverse problems are ill-posed, implementation of model parameter constraints is important in reducing solution ambiguity. This paper presents a unified transformation function for enforcing lower and upper bounds on model parameters to restrict model updates during the inversion process such that unrealistic results are suppressed. The transformation is realized using a logarithmic or inverse hyperbolic tangent function on model parameters, and contains the conventional t
