Predictors of persistent methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteraemia in patients treated with vancomycin
Young Kyung Yoon, Ju‐Young Kim, Dae Won Park, Jang Wook Sohn, Min Ja Kim
SJR Q1Journal of Antimicrobial ChemotherapyOA

OBJECTIVES: The high prevalence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) coupled with an increase in vancomycin use have induced vancomycin tolerance in MRSA, adversely affecting the outcome of MRSA bacteraemia. This study aimed to identify predictors of persistent MRSA bacteraemia (PMRSAB) in patients treated with vancomycin. METHODS: A retrospective, case-control study was performed at a university hospital in Korea from January 2006 to February 2009. Subjects included 96 patients

SJR Q2Infection and ChemotherapyOA

These guidelines were developed as part of the 2016 Policy Research Servicing Project by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A multidisciplinary approach was taken to formulate this guideline to provide practical information about the diagnosis and treatment of adults with acute upper respiratory tract infection, with the ultimate aim to promote the appropriate use of antibiotics. The formulation of this guideline was based on a systematic literature review and analysis of the

The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical efficacy and safety of vancomycin to those of teicoplanin for the treatment of adult patients with health care-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (HA-MRSA) bacteremia. A multicenter observational study was prospectively conducted in 15 teaching hospitals in Korea between February 2010 and July 2011. Adult patients (≥18 years old) with HA-MRSA bacteremia who were initially treated with vancomycin (VAN) (n = 134) or teicopla

SJR Q1PLoS ONEOA

Implementing a carbapenem-use stewardship program featuring the preferential use of ertapenem for treating appropriate indications of infection resulted in reduced use of Group 2 carbapenems and had a positive impact on the susceptibility of A. baumannii to carbapenems. This approach could be integrated into CRAB-control strategies in hospitals.

SJR Q1Annals of MedicineOA

Persistent reservoirs of multidrug-resistant microorganisms (MDRO) that are prevalent in hospital settings and communities can lead to the spread of MDRO. Currently, there are no effective decolonization strategies, especially non-pharmacological strategies without antibiotic regimens. Our aim was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) for the eradication of MDRO. A systematic literature search was performed to identify studies on the use of FMT for the dec

BACKGROUND: The purported value of empirical therapy to cover methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has been debated for decades. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of inappropriate empirical antibiotic therapy on clinical outcomes in patients with healthcare-associated MRSA bacteremia (HA-MRSAB). METHODS: A prospective, multicenter, observational study was conducted in 15 teaching hospitals in the Republic of Korea from February 2010 to July 2011. The study subje
