주영석 교수의 연구실은 종양의 유전적 변이와 바이러스 유전자 변화를 중심으로, 암의 분자적 기전과 감염병의 유전적 진화를 밝히는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 특히 미토콘드리아 게놈의 발현 및 변이, 폐암의 비정상적 유전자 변화, SARS-CoV-2의 변이 패atters 분석을 통해 질병의 기전을 유전자 수준에서 규명하고 있습니다. 이와 더불어, 단일세포 전사체 분석과 고속 유전자 시퀀싱 기반의 계산적 프레임워크를 활용해 복잡한 유전적 변화의 원인을 규명하고 있습니다.

Viruses accumulate mutations under the influence of natural selection and host-virus interactions. Through a systematic comparison of 351,525 full viral genome sequences collected during the recent COVID-19 pandemic, we reveal the spectrum of SARS-CoV-2 mutations.
