허영미 교수의 연구실은 생물의학적 기초 연구와 응용 수학 기반의 신호 및 데이터 처리 기법을 융합한 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 특히 김치 유래 물질이 암세포 성장에 미치는 영향을 생물학적으로 규명하고, 동시에 유전자 이상과 고차원 데이터의 효율적 표현을 위한 웨이블릿 기반 알고리즘 개발에도 주력하고 있습니다. 이는 암 관련 유전자 탐색과 생체 이미지, 유전자 데이터의 정밀 분석에 응용됩니다.

Effect of solvent extracts and juice supernatants from kimchis on the growth of various human cancer cells was studied, comparing with the actions on normal cells. Inhibitory effect of kimchi extracts on [³H] thymidine incorporation in cancer cells was also investigated.
