PURPOSE: The quality of on-board imaging systems, including cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), plays a vital role in image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and adaptive radiotherapy. Recently, there has been an upgrade of the CBCT systems fused in the O-ring linear accelerators called HyperSight, featuring a high imaging performance. As the characterization of a new imaging system is essential, we evaluated the image quality of the HyperSight system by comparing it with Halcyon 3.0 CBCT and pr

Dosimetric parameters of MLD and NTCP were correlated with the incidence of RP, but the clinical impact was minimal. We suggest that PWT is a safe technique for the treatment of IMN for BCS patients with low risk of symptomatic RP.

Effect of carbon content of ferromanganese alloy on corrosion behaviour of MgO–C refractory
Hyungsic Um, K. Lee, K.-Y. Kim, Geonyeong Shin, Yoonsun Chung
SJR Q2Ironmaking & Steelmaking Processes Products and Applications

The corrosion of MgO–C refractories during decarburisation of liquid ferromanganese alloys was investigated using the finger rotating test. An oxide layer containing MnO is formed on the surface of the MgO–C refractories in contact with molten low carbon ferromanganese alloys (Fe–75Mn–0·8C) but is not formed when the refractories are in contact with high carbon ferromanganese alloys (Fe–75Mn–7C). The thickness of the oxide layer decreases with increasing carbon content in the ferromanganese allo

SJR Q1Journal of Applied Clinical Medical PhysicsOA

Abstract Purpose The delivery quality assurance (DQA) of intensity‐modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) plans is a prerequisite for ensuring patient treatments. This work investigated the clinical usefulness of a new DQA system, Dosimetry Check™(DC), on TomoTherapy ® ‐based helical IMRT plans. Methods The DQA was performed for 15 different TomoTherapy ® ‐based clinical treatment plans. In Tomotherapy ® machines, the couch position was set to a height of 400 mm and the treatment plans were delivered usi

Korean-specific biokinetic model for iodine in radiological protection
Tae-Eun Kwon, Yoonsun Chung, Young Woo Jin
SJR Q3Journal of Radiological ProtectionOA

Abstract The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) recently adopted a detailed biokinetic model for systemic iodine with reference transfer coefficients based on typical worldwide dietary intakes of stable iodine. The regional data provided demonstrate that the ICRP reference thyroidal biokinetics may differ substantially across regions with atypically low or high dietary intakes of stable iodine. Importantly, the design of the ICRP model facilitates modifications of referen

Feasibility study of deep learning based radiosensitivity prediction model of National Cancer Institute-60 cell lines using gene expression

SJR Q2Nuclear Engineering and TechnologyOA

We investigated the feasibility of in vitro radiosensitivity prediction with gene expression using deep learning. A microarray gene expression of the National Cancer Institute-60 (NCI-60) panel was acquired from the Gene Expression Omnibus. The clonogenic surviving fractions at an absorbed dose of 2 Gy (SF2) from previous publications were used to measure in vitro radiosensitivity. The radiosensitivity prediction model was based on the convolutional neural network. The 6-fold cross-validation (C

SJR Q2Oncology Research and TreatmentOA

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a belly board (BB) with the addition of a bladder compression device (BCD) for small bowel (SB) displacement from the radiotherapy field for rectal cancer. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Computed tomography (CT) scans of 38 rectal cancer patients positioned on a BB were analyzed and compared with CT scans from the same patients after the addition of a BCD. The BCD moves the inferior border of the BB from the pubic symphysis to the lumbosa

SJR Q1Scientific ReportsOA

We investigated the practical aspects of the application of craniospinal irradiation using helical tomotherapy (HT-CSI) by evaluating interfractional setup errors and intrafractional movement during each treatment in 83 patients undergoing HT-CSI between January 2014 and December 2018. Interfractional setup errors in each axis (mediolateral; ML, craniocaudal; CC, and anteroposterior; AP) were assessed as differences between pre-treatment megavoltage computed tomography (MVCT) images scanned (zyg

SJR Q2Technology in Cancer Research & TreatmentOA

Herein, we evaluated the feasibility of placing patients in a tilted head position as part of routine clinical practice for fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (FSRT) of intracranial tumors using helical tomotherapy (HT), by assessing its dosimetric benefit and setup accuracy. We reviewed treatment plans of four cases that were to receive FSRT for brain lesions in normal and head-tilted positions. These patients underwent two computed tomography (CT) scans: first in the normal supine position
