Akihiro Takahashi教授の研究室は、ヘム酵素やモデル錯体における酸化鉄(IV)ペルオキシド種(コン pound I)の電子的性質と反応性の制御を、軸配位子の効果から解明することを主眼としています。特に、赤外・NMR・EPR・電化学的手法を用いた多角的分析により、反応性とスペクトロスコピック・パラメータとの相関関係を解明しています。また、土壌の内部不安定性やせん断応答に関する土質力学的実験も併行して実施しており、環境的要因が土の力学的挙動に与える影響を評価しています。

高機能性ペプチド・糖鎖の効率的合成法の開発を柱とし、特にAJIPHASE®を基盤とした液相系ペプチド合成法の革新を図っています。また、昆虫の innate 免疫反応における病原体認識受容体とプロテアーゼ活性化機構の解明にも取り組んでおり、分子生物学的・生化学的アプローチでそのメカニズムを解明しています。さらに、量子臨界点に近い磁性体の物性をマイクロケルビン温度域で精密に測定する研究も展開しています。
